Lee Bollinger of Columbia University invites the president of Iran to speak at the university, and then, as an introduction, goes on a rant calling the man stupid.
Ironically, I think this event did us more harm then good as it epitomized an example of U.S. arrogance, lack of culture, and stupidity itself coming from a university that is supposed to embody the highest degrees of our culture.

My exact same thoughts. How arrogant and yes, stupid.

I'm wondering if Bollinger thought this was the solution to pacifying both sides...those who protested against and his desire to show an "example" of free speech at Columbia.

The mook from Iran ought to have realized that his presence would stir up a s**tstorm and most likely it was his intent to do so.He probably thought it would be a grand way to "twist" the knife a little.I did not want that turd in my country to begin with but was(am) surprised that the university president would call the guy a dictator...I had expected 'soft' questions.

I doubt that you would decry the protests that were seen had the speaker been an American conservative, seems your idea is that this Iranian piece of flotsam has more of your respect than your own countrymen.
Culture is a chimera...it goes right out the window when we are faced with an enemy that has called for one's destruction.
Arrogance is the base upon which patriots defend their nation.Stupidity is you and your kind that believe 'dialogue' can save your pus-filled worthless butts from the moronical maniacs of the Middle East.People such as yourself will be the first to perish, either by their hand or of Americans that recognize your perfidy.Either way...you won't last long.

A messed up one.

Or one that is so concerned about its public image that it feels the need to pacify the press and the publc while trying to offer a forum from another perspective at the same time.
