an almighty entity would have no desires, no wantings, no love, no hate...one cannot explain almightyness (?) from a human point of view...
an entity who has desires, who wants people to do or not to do cannot be almighty since wishing, wanting, needing or loving comes from a non perfect nature.
(small example, if you could do whatever you want would you wish to win the lottery?)

most people think that the catholic church was the 1st christian church, it wasn't, in the early 1st century the christian congreation (know as a sect which Paul (saul) was determined to wipe out) ) consider this meeting at Jerusulem about 30 yrs after Jesus death where JAMES the brother of Jesus spoke for the group or governing body
(Acts 15:12-21) . . .At that the entire multitude became silent, and they began to listen to Bar′na‧bas and Paul relate the many signs and portents that God did through them among the nations. 13 After they quit speaking, JAMES answered, saying: “Men, brothers, hear me. 14 Sym′e‧on has related thoroughly how God for the first time turned his attention to the nations to take out of them a people for his name. 15 And with this the words of the Prophets agree, just as it is written, 16 ‘After these things I shall return and rebuild the booth of David that is fallen down; and I shall rebuild its ruins and erect it again, 17 in order that those who re

Aren't these the same people who whine incessantly about atheists 'persecuting' them on this forum??

(For the record, I have far more respect for Catholics, in general, than I do for fundamentalists and Evengelicals. In fact, I have absolutely no respect for the latter two.)

I live in the wonderful Arizona desert. We just had a late monsoon storm roll thru here and if you ever have gotten to see one they are quite simply an awesome thing. It lead me to this question...

Do you think that in our ferverent arguments about where this amazing place came from and where its going that we sometimes forget to simply appreciate how amazing it is?

For the small moment my beloved monsoon rolls thru the valley... none of that really seems to matter. It simply is, and I am lucky to witness it.

It would be ruled as America is being ruled now, except without a president, just a congress and representatives(the works). There would be nothing to kill or die for. It would be much more peaceful. That is what I think, what about you?

Jeremiah 17:9
“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked.Who really knows how bad it is?

How can you trust your heart to tell you what God wants from you? I hear some say "I think God is leading me to do ..." or "I feel God would ...." If you are not studying God's word how can you truly know what God is saying.

Stop trusting your feelings and start trusting God's word. Study your bible to find God's will for your life.

Proverbs 30:5
Every word of God proves true.He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.

What say you Brother!

I think you can be a creationist and still agree that evolution explains our sex drives much better than the Bible. What makes us horny? Natural selection or God/Satan? HOw do we have freewill over what makes us hrony? Because that would make dating easier.

One of my favorites is when they say that we lock Virgins in the Salt Lake Temple and they have to Jump out the windows into the Jordan River and swim to the Great Salt lake to get away. Anybody who has been to Salt Lake knows that is completely geographically impossible. The Temple is not anywhere near either the Jordan River or the Great Salt Lake.

tounges are only spoken three times in the bible.

Why did they speak in these tounges - I Corinthians 1:22 "For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom."

Acts 2:5

"And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven."

Those Jews were there for the feast days (Pentecost is a Jewish feast), and they were unbelieving because they had never even heard of Jesus. Peter was getting ready to preach and the disciples were getting ready to witness. The tongues they spoke (the actual languages of the visitors) was a "sign" that their message was true!

Acts 2:7
"And they were all amazed and marvelled...how hear we every man in our own tongue...?"

There were only two other cases of tounges being spoken in the bible, in both cases every one was able to understand these tounges in their language.

So does this mean if someone speaks in tounges and I can't understand them they are just babbling incoherently?
