I asked a question about inner peace and spirituality and the need or lack of need for religion. This is what one particular whiner said:
" If you had attained such a state of mind, you wouldn't be on here picking on those of us who DO believe"
If asking questions that this person couldn't properly answer is "picking on" anybody, then a lot of us are guilty as charged. Basically he just showed how one example (him), can make the whole group look bad. I'll be the first to admit that I have no use for religion and fail to see any use for it, that is why I asked the question. If you consider honest questions as picking on you, you have a serious problem and no religion will fix it.

Why do people claim that gay marriage is wrong and should never be allowed? Many people argue that it is wrong because gay couples cannot have children. Well, what about infertile straight couples? They are still allowed to get married! This is a double standard, is it not? What do you think about this?

Hello! My friend has just asked if I could help cook for her daughters 1st birthday party. I'm fine with this apart from the fact that she wants me at her house at 9am in the morning!! Normally this wouldn't be a problem but it is my anniversary the day before and my hubby is treating me to a nice meal and a drink in the night. Obviousy I am not going to want to get up too early the next day so I have said no. Am I being selfish??

That's what many people say. They say being dead is the same feeling as sleeping forever. How do scientists know this? & also, they say that your soul burning for eternity as a result of sin is not true.

A female coworker asked me to go to dinner with her and a group of friends from work, I told her that I might be able to go but wasn't sure because I had other plans. When I told her I couldn't go, her facial expressions indicated that she was very disappointed that I wasn't able to go. Then ignored me for the rest of the day. How should i take this, I told her that I already had plans and there was only a chance that I could go. Should I apologize. I am a dude by the way

The Merriam-Webster defines "religion" as:
- : the service and worship of God or the supernatural: commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance
- : a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices

When you have an institutionalized system of religious attitudes and beliefs that promote agendas of hate, violence and intolerance you then have a bad meaning for the word: religion.

Religion like guns don’t kill people. People kill people, some just use religion as the excuse and the gun as a tool.

Many of us have come to view religion as a bad word because it represent the excuse for so many of the things that are wrong with this world.

As John Lennon sang "Imagine no religion.."

I'm a Methodist and this year we have to go through confirmation, to accept the faith as our own. The thing is, I'm having a hard time believing in God, or that anything in the Bible ever happened. I really don't want to do this because at the end, we have to stand up in front of the church and declare our faith. My parents don't know. I was going to tell them, but then my mom told me, "Oh, last year there was this kid who didn't go through confirmation. He had some problems..." How could I tell them then that I didn't want to do it? I just have a hard time believing in some great Creator watching us, and that we go to heaven when we die; I can't believe any of it. What should I do? I really don't want to stand out.

When the "Big Bang" theory was first introduced, MOST scientists rejected it because it had religious IMPLICATIONS. The "Big Bang" theory itself was not religious. Is this the same path that Intelligent Design is taking? It has religious IMPLICATIONS but I.D. itself is not religious.

I'm talking under 18 pregnancy... Society appears to have gone soft on kids getting pregnant. We have so many these days, and everyone just goes "There, there, it's ok". No offensive to any teenage mums out there, it's not ok. The last time I checked, the legal age to have sex was 16. That law appears to have gone out of the window too. And it's not just moral wise either, it's finanical too. 95% of the time, it's tax payers (like myself) or the teenagers parents who are funding for the baby, not them. I mean, take responibilty of whats yours, don't rely on other people to pick up after you....

Do you think the reason why the UK has the highest teenage pregnancy rate is because we're too soft?
