I live in the wonderful Arizona desert. We just had a late monsoon storm roll thru here and if you ever have gotten to see one they are quite simply an awesome thing. It lead me to this question...

Do you think that in our ferverent arguments about where this amazing place came from and where its going that we sometimes forget to simply appreciate how amazing it is?

For the small moment my beloved monsoon rolls thru the valley... none of that really seems to matter. It simply is, and I am lucky to witness it.

There have been copious discussions about your question. I know there are amazing people out there who don't believe in God, be that as it may, people will not get into heaven for good deeds alone nor can they, "buy" their way into the kingdom. If that were the case, more masses would be there. There have been accounts of people dying and coming back with abundant faith and belief. All have said they feel a marvelous peace, see a bright light, see family, their Guardian Angel or see who they believe is Jesus Christ, Our Lord. They can't express the incredulous love they feel and then they're told to go back. All have said they didn't want to remain on earth. Some of those people have even cried over having to come back here and some have gone into a deep depression. I saw a story about a guy on television, who was a proclaimed atheist. One day, he died on the operating table for a few minutes and went straight to hell or his view of it. What he saw there terrified him so much that after he got out of the hospital, he immediately called a Minister? Priest? He "changed his tune" quickly and he is now a Church member. He said what he saw made him realize he was "barking up the wrong tree." =] Additionally, all you would have to do is look in the mirror to believe there is a God. <><

YES!! I agree. Far too often we fail to appreciate the unbelievable beauty of it all.
However, that does not mean we should cease to have a debate over life and its origins. I do not want to be part of a species that simply stares at the stars with a dumb look of admiration, you know?

You did kind-of leave out Hindus

The monsoon sounds cool!
Yeah, sometimes it seems like we need to sit back and appreciate this wonderful creation. It really is pretty incredible. I thank God daily for making me a creature in this wonderful world.

In the name of Allah the Benificent the Merciful.
"And He it is Who sendeth the winds as tidings heralding His mercy, till, when they bear a cloud heavy (with rain). We lead it to a dead land, and then cause water to descend thereon and thereby bring forth fruits of every kind. Thus bring We forth the dead. Haply ye may remember." Surah VII, Verse 57 (Holy Quran)

The mojority of society and mankind in general seem to take everything for granted. People take their life, freedom, love, humanity and the universe for granted everyday. We tend to get wrapped up in tomorrows unpromised days and never take the time to really enjoy life and all of it's truth and beauty. Everything and everyone has remarkable beauty, people just never open their eyes to see all their enchanting moments of life.

I understand your feeling. The universe is an amazing place. I am very serious birder and spend most of my free time in nature. I thrive on it. I think anyone, regardless of their beliefs or lack there of, can experience that transcendent feeling of awe.

I wish more people would just live for the day. Quit worrying about whether Adam & Eve had belly buttons or if the Rapture is near.

I think we spend so much time arguing about it that we don't pay attention to the other great things, like what you described. I wish I could see what you saw, if just for a moment.....
