So god existed forever, meaning for -infinte years he just sat in darkness not doing anything, and around 4000 BC he just spontaniously decides to create life, the universe, light, heaven, hell, etc.? Did he get bored of existing forever and decide to become a deity or something?

CONTRADICTION:
It is impossible for something to have been there forever. Everything has a beginning. The oldest rock on earth was at one point spat out of a volcano, even the universe (according to intelligent people, anyway) is only 16 billion years old. God could not have always existed.

The History Channel aired another documentary on the Bible COde from famed Mathematicians, Scholars and Rabbi's well versed in the Bible Code and sees a future event of a comet or flare hitting earth in 2012..
BIBLE CODES PREDICT SOLAR FLARE HOLOCAUST IN 2012

Revelation 16:8-9 "And they fourth poured out his bowl upon the sun; and it was given to it to burn men with fire. And men were burned with great heat; and the blasphemed the name of God Who has the authority over these plagues; and they did not repent to give Him glory." Here is one very tight Bible Code cluster that describes the approach of a large comet in 2012…

2012 – comet – large - stone-like / stony – object - sped
Tongue-like – Sun - whole earth / earth annihilated - smitten / stricken - smitten
Planetary / wanderer – fragmentary – sixty – mile - blunderbuss / scatter-gun

I am a Christian. A Baptist. I'm looking to see how many other Baptists and Christians are on this site. Are you trying to witness for Christ? Are you using you opportunities?? Having you been telling them how to get saved? What is your goal in life? Do you think that main reason we're here is to serve God? It should be. What have YOU done for Him, when He's done soooo much for us???

"Many ...believe in evolution for the simple reason that they think science has proven it to be a `fact' and, therefore, it must be accepted... In recent years, a great many people...having finally been persuaded to make a real examination of the problem of evolution, have become convinced of its fallacy and are now convinced anti-evolutionists."

You think that God couldn't be infinitive but matter or energy could???? How is there sense in that??? God can at least think and do things. Matter is just there. It can't do anything. What made that matter? It certainly didn't make itself? God in his power doesn't have to be created because he is not a creation or thing. Matter and energy are things? Can you give me any logical reason to believe matter could exist by itself when you think a more capable God couldn't?????

Is it possible that the makers of such games are preying on vulnerable youngsters, to incite real life violence and terrorism?

What are your views?

Some of us avoid seeking after God because it will mean that we will not be free to indulge in some of our pleasurable pastimes. This is only true of illegitimate pleasure. There are many legitimate pleasures that God has created for our enjoyment. God is interested in our ultimate pleasure which is to enjoy him forever in heaven. (Psa 16:11). While the consequences of our few sinful pleasures in this life result in eternal punishment in the next life. The bible contrasts the temporal sufferings of this life with the eternal weight of glory in the next life (2 Cor 4:17). Logic would tell us to consider the eternal benefit of our soul rather than just our immediate pleasure.

This has always been difficult for me. My parents aren't too religious although my mom's involved somewhat in the LDS Church. My family background is Mormon and Evangelical, and I live out west where both religions have big presences.

I've been involved in both -- the Foursquare Church and the LDS Church. I'm in my mid-twenties and feel I should decide soon -- for the sake of when I got married and have kids.

Here's the thing, when I pray I feel both are true. I've read much of the debate on Mormonism and feel the LDS Church has reasonable answers to all the critics objections. I'm reading the Book of Mormon and have nearly read it cover to cover and have taken Institute classes. I've also read the Bible.

I really love and respect my family members in both religions and I think both churches (LDS and Foursquare) have very wise and knowledgable leaders who I respect.

Can someone help me sort this out?

What if all of the kids involved in the Jena 6 situation were white? What if the beatings, nooses, and all that stuff had still happened, but the only difference was their color of skin?

Don't say it wouldn't happen. It could happen. Kids get into fights all the time.

What would Al Sharpton and the rest of the "black community" have to say about the case?

Or how about if all of the kids involved had been black? Don't say it would not happen. You KNOW it could. I've heard many times before of the "black community" trying to stop "black on black crime". It's very real and it does happen.

What would Al Sharpton have to say?

Does the color of one's skin or the motivation behind committing a crime change the fact that a crime was committed? Does the reasons behind one's hatred change the fact of the actions he took?

It's not just a religious thing I think even the non-religious will agree that women should all be this way:

A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.
She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.
She gets up while it is still dark;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her servant girls.
She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers

Star Trek and Stargate series are modern mythologies.

In Stargate SG1 the writers theorize that there is or will be a race called the Ancients who ascend to another plane of existence upon enlightenment and in Star-Trek TNG there was a race of godlike beings all named "Q" who perversely enjoyed toying with humanity and other life forms like the gods of Ancient Greek Mythology did with greek heroes. They shed their physical bodies which were made obsolete by evolution.

what about the curse of ham ? brown ppl are cursed

what about women ?

"The absence of either salvation or condemnation for women finds extensive support in the Word of God." He reported. "Jesus said that the sole reason God created women in the first place was to provide company and service to men (1 Corinthians 11:9), God determined that men would be lonely living alone, so he created women purely to keep men company and serve their needs (Genesis 2:18-22). Women are therefore completely subordinate to men (1 Corinthians 11:3). It stands to reason, though, that once men enter the Kingdom of Heaven, they will be one with God, and will no longer be lonely and in need of mortal companionship. Thus, the reason behind having women will no longer exist. Women, like the members of the animal kingdom, will fall by the wayside."
