if you go back through the past 100 yrs of this country, you will see a rise in violence, with the rise of the video games with the killing area, theirs been more high speed racing accidents with teens, and school shootings with teens, you could also blame rap music for its such violence betrayal of good life, seems if you kill someone and get away, you get a street badge like to boyscout, and its cool,America better do something because it WILL only get worse, imagine in 15 yrs?

I don't believe that video games are designed to incite real-life violence.
Classical writings are far more violent than anything seen in video games. The Illiad, for example, has grotesque scenes of disembowelment and beheadings described in great detail. People have been reading the Illiad for quite a long time and I don't know that it has been blamed for teaching kids how to be violent.
I have played video games all my life (hello, Atari... lol) and I consider myself a very down-to-earth and non-violent person. I played Mortal Kombat with my mom when it first came out and I remember everyone thought the game was so horrible. I also grew up watching Loony Toons, which hardly anyone watches anymore because they're so "violent."
I knew it was all just for fun and it had nothing to do with anything real. Like I'm going to laugh if I see a real person impaled on spikes?!
Kids are way smarter than we give them credit for. Saying that a violent video game is what makes people shoot classmates is an excuse for something far more serious that we have no answers for.

Think back to when you were a child, didn't you play "army", "cops and robbers" or "cowboys and indians" or watch your friends play them?
Violence is a part of our nature, as we are a meat eating creature. So violence is not imparted by games or stories, however some individuals have a tendency to be more violent or less "morally" restrained than others. In these cases people look at the most apparent factors and blame them. For example: parents basically are uninvolved in the child's life, the kid plays violent games and ends up going on a killing spree. Did the games cause them to be violent? No, most likely it was a combination of things starting with the parents. If this was reported in the news, what would the focus be? Violent games?
I'm not advocation some of the games out there, as I think a lot of them can encourage (but not cause) anti-social behavior and present very poor examples. I monitor what I and my children play, and encourage them to avoid gratuitously violent games.

The makers of these games are in the business of making money. The violence they portray in these games is not real life and without doubt increases violence at any age. We have no need for this kind of trash in our society. Ban them all.

yes, it's the same as violent movies or shows on TV. Countries that have less violence on TV, like Canada, have considerably less violent crimes than countries that have lots of violence on TV, like the US.
