Aside from it being unscientific, is it a religious idea? Is it somehow more religious than or the reference to our "Creator" in the Declaration of Independence?

Since I live in North San Diego Country reeling from a hot humid
dry summer, yesterday the weather dropped and we entered a very cold chill, from hot to a cold stormy rain in a matter of a day and the weekend calls for snow to drop in the grapevine and on some mountain passes.. Another unusual thing happened in Spaceweather, there were no sunspots! nothing, no sunspots on the sun was one thing determined to cause the Little Ice Age...
http://www.spaceweather.com/images2007/21sep07/midi512_blank.gif-BLANK SUNS: The sun has been blank--no sunspots--for 14 consecutive days. It's a sign of solar minimum. If forecasters are correct, the absolute rock bottom of the solar cycle will come in March 2008. Is this exciting? In a sense it is. The blank days we see now herald a sea change to come in March when the sun transitions from a quieting star to an increasingly active one.
Man does not control weather GOD controls everything...

For me it would be .......................

Well, let's see what you admit to first!

I like the ones where the asker is struggling under the weight of their own cleverness. As if they're the first person in the history of ever to come up with the clever concept, such as "Is Atheism really a religion?" or "Atheists, what if you're wrong?"

What are your favorites?

show the same emotions, social relationships, and ability to think that humans do, though maybe not to the same degree? Watching an old tiger after a missed hunt will show you that it is well aware that it will die, and doesn't want to. All of the characteristics that makes humans "human" are displayed in nature to a greater or lesser degree. What makes anyone think that humans have a "spirit" or "soul" but animals do not?

Or to put it another way.... how much consideration have you given to leading by action and example and keeping the words to yourself?

There are those who will never believe as you do, and trying to "save" them will only make them angry and defiant.
There are those who prefer to remain in the middle, but to pull them one way or another will only make them lean the other way.
There are those who might believe as you do... but want to do it on their own terms.... and if you dictate those terms then they will reject it all.

Every person out there has a contrary streak... a need to defy the terms of others and stand above it. If you give them nothing to oppose though... they will not oppose it, and might even accept it.

_.-~{ Not of course that I should be advising people on how to do what I'd rather they didn't do at all.... but doing something well is always better than doing it poorly... no matter what it is. }~-._

Doesnt the fact that marriages happen so frequently out of churches and away from religious influence show that religion is a political, not a religious institution in this country?

The commandment about “graven images” is one of the most misunderstood scriptures. Consider Exodus 25: 18-19: “And make two cherubim out of hammered gold at the ends of the cover. Make one cherub on one end and the second cherub on the other; make the cherubim of one piece with the cover, at the two ends.” Here, God is commanding that images be made!

So is God contradicting himself? First he say don’t make a graven image, and then he orders graven images to be made?

No, he is not contradicting himself. The problem is that folks have misinterpreted the words “graven image.”

According to Strong’s Concordance, the original Hebrew words that were translated into “graven image” referred to idols (Here is the concordance link: http://cf.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?strongs=06459 ). Of course, we know that an idol is a false god, or something that you place above God. Since the Cheribum are not false Gods, there is no contradiction.

Religion: A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.

So in essence, most Atheists are religious because they believe in their cause or principle and are devoted to it.

Uh-oh!!! Now comes the hate and rage mail... AGAIN!

Yesterday I was dropping my girls off at daycare and I saw this elderly man laying on the ground next to the curb. There was a wheel chair next to him so I asked him if he needed help. He told me yeah so I helped him get into his chair and he was shaking really bad so I called the paramedics and waited with him until they came. The man was 76 years old no family to speak of and he had been laying their because he had fallen out his chair during a seizure (is that how you spell that?)
He had been there all night long this is a very busy street he was on and I stopped and helped him at 6:30 am. That means hundreds of people passed him by.
What the heck is wrong with human beings? I mean how would you feel if your grandfather was laying somewhere helpless for hours and hours?
How many of you would really and I mean be honest with yourself would really stop to help a person in need? Keep in mind I was on my way to work and ended up being 20 mintues late. How many would do that?

I mean, why would you believe something and base your whole entire life on it when you can't even explain half of it and have to resort to "God works in mysterious ways"? Don't you think if he was really all-powerful he'd give you knowledge so you don't appear clueless to those you are trying to teach about God?
