It isn't.

I once posted a question about this. I dug through some history books and did a quick count. There have been over 470 wars and conflicts around the world since 1800. Very few of those were what some would call religous wars. Most are political or racial.

Because people who are ignorant of history are misguided into thinking that religion has been the cause of a most wars. It clearly has not been.

Religion, like any other belief system, can and has been used by people in power to control and manipulate the peasants. Atheism, under the umbrella of Communism has done the samething. And sometimes, yes, war has occured directly from religous differences. But that is the exception, not the rule. Often religion is manipulated to add support for the initial reason for war, but it is rarely ever the actual root cause of war.

Examples?

WWI - Started by Austria invading Serbia over the assasination of it's President. Deep cultural differences between Serbs (Slavs) and Austrians (Germanics) did exist and it had nothing to do with religion. In fact, dominant catholisim was one of the few commonalities between the two countries. Regardless, this war was more political than anything.

WWII - Started by greedy, power hungry facists with no religous agenda at all. Hitler, Mussolini, Hirohito.

US Civil War - Mostly about slavery and economics. No religous seed here either.

Korea and Vietnam - Cold war related. Phobia over the spread of communism. If you consider communism a religion, then I'll give you this one.

Gulf War and Iraq - Oil.

Most of the wars in Africa - Over natural resources and minerals. Blood diamonds, water and farming resources, etc.

US War of Independence - About taxes.

Mexican - American War - Land.

Faulkland Island War - Land.

Hellenic Wars - All political. Same religion shared by all sides.

Need more?

I'll be fair and list a religious war just for fun......The Crusades. Again, this is the minority however.

Bottomline: Simple greed of money, land and power has always been the cause of "most" wars.

The devil is behind all wars. When he inspired men to crucify the Son of God, he was cast down. He had no more access to the heavenly intelligences and to the other worlds. Ever since all his energies have been concentrated to deceive men and to bring war and bloodshed. He hates God and men. The more suffering and misery he can inflict upon mankind the more He is hurting Christ their Creator and Savior. The more he can inspire men to turn their backs on God and Christ, the more he exults! Ezekiel 28:1:19 makes him responsible for all the wars and for all the destruction that have occured on planet earth since the beginning of the world! The one thing he delights in is to foment war all in the name of religion, especially in the name of Christ!

Please read these verses!

I agree with you but some people say so because of war about religion in the past and nowadays between people in Iraq and the other oriental countries.

If all Humans on earth suddenly became atheists and dropped all religious seeking and believing in a loving Father God with perfect Rules for everybody and everything, then all humans would WAR and KILL and CANNIBALIZE each other the SAME way the animals and other living things with NO RELIGION do.

This bumper sticker shows this desire for godless sinful behaviors: "PARTY ANIMAL."

All animals die here fast; we living in Truth sons of God in Jesus Who are One in Spirit here upon us all, have and now Realize the Gift of Eternal Life in GOD's Light here and now and forevermore and Eternally ! Amen !

It is obviously not true. There have been plenty of wars about other things besides religion. WWI, WWII were not about religion for example.

Therefore people must have some other reason for saying that. Perhaps they just hate religion.

According to the war experts, ALL wars can trace their start to the need for "lebensraum", living space. Whenever a population outstrips its available arable land and/or energy sources, it starts looking for new. And since ALL the arable land and energy resources are already occupied and/or in use by others, well.......you get the picture.

Fine then it would be the end to MOST wars.

And if you mean by oil the current war remember the "reason" we are there stems from the twin towers which was a Jihad or holy war thing.

Why? Because many people use religion as an excuse to hate. And hate leads to war.

Some people are ignorant of the facts. The fact is that as long as there is greed, lust, and hate there will always be wars.
