No, Fuzzy. You're applying too simplistic of an approach. Let me help.

First, break the word into its components: Enli, -gh-, ten and ment.

Now, Enli is actually short for Zhang Enli who is a Shanghai-based painter. Shanghai is located at 31° 12' N, 121° 26' E. On the opposite side of the globe, at 31° 12' S, 121° 26' W, is the middle of the Pacific Ocean. This is BFE.

-gh- is simply an intermediary between the first part of the word and the second.

"Ten" is not what it appears - the number. Instead it is the name of the Japanese detective in the Nick Carter comic series. The arch-nemesis in the series, of course, is Stanislao Moulinsky (shortened to stamoul).

Ment is actually more mundane - a bastardization of the word "mint". The opposite of this is, of course, "garlic breath" or gab.

So, the opposite of Enlightenment is found to be (*roll the drums*): b(o)festamoulgab.

So, whereas Enlightenment means "pertaining to Chinese breath-freshening detectives who paint" bofestamoulgab refers instead to "those who, evil, masked and with smelly breath, drown in the ocean of loneliness away from the coast of hope."

I hope this helps, and that you feel enlightened and not bofestamouled.
