I'm soon to be a college graduate. My parents are both deceased and I haven't talked to my sisters in years. I'm single as well. So, I don't really have much of a family.

The closest people I've shared my dreams, fears, love, hopes, frustration, and worries with have been....you guys.

I know maybe that sounds a little pathetic, but you guys have fulfilled the role of "family" to me. Now I'm being serious...if I were to send you an invitation to my college graduation, who would come?

I have found many Christian have a low view of scripture and try to justify thier actions by dismissing scripture as not relevant. As Christians we should submit to scripture.

1John 5:2-4 says
"This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith."

I only mention this because a friend was telling me last night of his JW extended family being so resistant to any talk of college for their not so young children. He talked about how these kids are so talented and smart and their plans for after HS are "get a job" and "ministry"

Well, we all know how hard it is to pay for the most basic needs (food, shelter) on the kind of job you get with nothing more than a HS education. I told him about my past growing up as a JW child and how when I was in, we were supposed to be in the New System of Things by 1975. Here it is 2007 and here we all still are in the same old system. I'd think most parents would be practical and impress on their kids to be able to feed and house themselves in the here and now.. and be really happy if they didn't have to because their Paradise Earth had come about.

Anyway, any thought on how to help this message get through?

I use the term supervisor loosely because technically I dont work for her I work with her. I am enrolled in the work study program at my school and I have a job as a secretary, kind of. The lady that I report to is the real secretary of the department. She is always giving me her work and trying to make it seem like, I am her assistant. She's cool when its just us but when other people are around she tries to make herself seem like she has authority over me. She starts barking out orders and cutting me off every time I try to speak. And she always wants me to do like a million things at one time. I have no problem with her being my "boss" but I guess I am just tired of her acting like I am just the help when other people are around. I think she does it because she wants to feel important. I am not sure if I should go to the head of the work study program at my school or speak with the head of the department I work for. If I go to the WS head then I will more then likely be reassigned.

….the old atheist mind trick; because after all, the Logic is strong on weaker minds.

Christians on Answers are complaining that atheists are trying to do away with religion, they need to be saved, they "respect their views" but Christianity is still right, faith will always prevail, etc. Atheists are complaining that Christians are constantly trying to convert them, gain power in the government, and never use logic or truth in their arguments, etc.

Does everyone on this religion/spirituallity really get verbally attacked or ill-treated because of their religion/atheism on a daily or frequent basis? I've interacted with tons of classmates, workmates, relatives, in-laws, etc., and I never have people calling me out for being a Catholic fool with a made-up God, and never feel the urge to tell people they need to go to church or convert or anything. Does anyone here get consistently bugged by people in day to day life because of their religion? I'm talking about on interaction with individuals, not broad groups like "the Christians bug me" or the "atheists bug me".

There's this reclusive, older man in his 50's or so that literally hunches over his Bible- reading it until he falls asleep every Sunday. I guess I want to ask him why he bothers going to church in the first place. The sermons are very interesting. We actually have a very good pastor that preaches some of the best sermons ever, but this old guy never listens and just has his face shoved in the Bible the whole time until he dozes off.

So, should I ask him? BTW, he stinks too. Should I tell him to take a bath? Well, I wouldn't tell him...but it's so distracting.

This was officially overturned in the late 19th century.

I mean seeing as Protestantism broke off of Catholicism and all. I mean hey that's the logic of some Protestants isn't it? I mean that is the logic of CJ and anyboidy else who gave him a thumbs up for that matter. Link's right here: Plus he has said that on many occassions as well.

Apache and navajo share chinese DNA and japanese DNA, the languages match to the chinese and tibetan and mongolian. The way i see it they are East Asian even now,but which are they. I know that i have already upset some of you by what I said just now, I cant help that. They are some kind of East Asian I want to know which one they are. Their DNA didnt change that much otherwise they would not match East Asian, they would not look it nor would the culture be the same almost(like it or not the evidence shows me they are East Asian) I just want to know which group they are. Go ahead and chew me out if you like, it wouldnt be the first time and it wont be the last. But to anyone who will answer please do so.

They also have a hard time knowing the difference between stating a subjective opinion as fact opposed to what stating a subjective opinion as a subjective opinion. ALSO, they are horrible at using analogies. Could all of these reasons or incapabilities give reason to the fact that they haven't figured it out yet?

I answered a question earlier that stated: "Are atheists generally more open-minded?" Most of the answers to the question were "yes."

But, in order for atheists to be truly open-minded, they would have to -believe- the -possibility- of God. They have to
-believe- they do not know -everything-. This is where the atheistic worldview falls short.

Oddly enough, you don't have to get very old before realizing that there are many people who resent you, as an old person, taking up space on the planet. If you have a part-time job, it is begrudged you because it should be given to someone with a family to support. I've heard the impatience of people in stores because an old person is in the way and is suspected of being senile: Old and senile, same thing. Some see that your social security is the same as welfare - paid out of their tax dollars. I've heard it on talk shows. They don't consider that it may have taken you 50+ years as a wage earner, contributing to your account in order to collect at age 65.. AARP magazine focuses on seniors who drive a succession of new cars, have second homes somewhere in the world, travel a lot and live better than most of us ever hoped to live at any time in our lives. That's the way it is. The working poor are the forgotten people in every generation. We earned every day of it.

Today I went to my yoga class. The teacher, a very kind man, at the end of the lesson said that AUM is the sound of the Universe. As soon as he said it a thought came to my mind, quick as lighting, "do you have proof of that? Empirical data, please?".
Fortunately, this question never reached my lips.
Do you think I spend too much time on R&S?
