I ask this question sincerely, and do not by any means intend to offend anyone or to sound sarcastic.

That being said, I realize that it is a sensative issue by refering to people with this kind of disability period. To retard is define as to slow, and people with retardation are by nature slowed, albeit not by their own choice. To give a flowery name is not helping the person with retardation, and in a sense does them a diservice by refering to them by non-specific names, as their needs cannon be readily identified through indirect human interaction.

So, what's the big deal? I have a cousin with retardation, and I'm not ashamed of her. As long as the word is not used in a derrogatory sense, what is the big deal?

I received 2 emails from the same person and they are below

From: brian8907

Subject: **** you...

Message: and the ******* horse your fat *** rode in on...

I do not appriciate how you told your long lost adopted cousin how I called you mean names and were nothing but hateful to you when I defended you until I saw you lied...

So I hope you do ******* die of cancer if you even had it because you flat out lied about me.

NOW I am being nothing but rude you ******* *****.

And the other

From: brian8907

Subject: Re: **** you...

Message: Cause that made sense..."you call yourself a Christian, you are nothing either" so Christians are nothing?

Figures you would lie about being a christian too...damn, why couldn't have God taken you away?

Because of him I am finished, I have tried but this takes the cake, I never swore at anyone or lied, I don't appreciate getting emails like this would you?

If you dont believe in Christ why celebrate his birthday. I think you should have to work or go to school or whatever. That day means nothing to you anyway.

The existence of suffering in the world is slowly eating away at me. It is always in my memory: the visions of wounded or dead innocents and those in unceasing anguish throughout the world. I often try to relax and detach from my troubles but that never works. I know they are always calling out.

It is getting to the point where I can barely do my work ,regardless of how fullfilling and worthwhile it is. When I pray to God for strength, I lose some fear but not the agony. Should I perhaps train myself to care less and try to function more like a human machine? Would this be worth it you think?

God hates religion, because religion is "our share" of the salvation deal and concerns the work that we have to do to be saved. In reality, God comes to us and we do not have to do any good works to be saved. We just have to believe in Christ's Death and Resurrection. Faith is a gift from the Holy Ghost, not any work of ours.

Let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. T
he wife hath not the power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body,
but the wife.

1:17 And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and
folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit.

The following solves many (not all) fallacies:

When given the choice between following a prescribed moral/religious life (turn the other cheek, judge not thy neighbor, the "Golden Rule," hold your tongue), one should wager on that which is likely to be more favorable in consideration of all possible consequences and their prescribed risks and benefits; regardless of whether one is motivated to do so by religious or other ideals:

If a God (or Gods) exist:
A) The person who follows the above counsel would presumably gain eternal happiness/satisfaction for such altruistic gestures to his/her fellow beings, regardless of belief in God(s) [INFINITE GAIN]
B) The person who does not follow the above counsel would presumably suffer eternal unhappiness/dissatisfaction, regardless of belief in God(s) [INFINITE LOSS]

If God(s) don't exist:
A) Society benefits from the above counsel being followed [FINITE GAIN]
B) Society suffers from the above counsel being rejected (finite loss) [FINITE LOSS]
