That's the best I've heard it in a long time. I was going to say He hates religion because of all the politics and hypocracy that have been involved. But your point is awesome.
Paien, what you say is true in a sense. If you have a personal relationship with Christ, all our sins will be forgiven (if we ASK for forgiveness). But the asker isn't saying that once we're saved we can just do whatever we want because God still wants us to obey him.

If there is a god out there, or inside of us, then the question is meaningless. We have free will to believe what we want. Religions are man-made groups of people who share a common belief. They are cultural, which is why they are so different. Some religions believe THEIRS is the only true religion. But if god really worried or hated religions, don't you think we would all be believing or disbelieving the same thing? "Christianity, on the other hand, was never meant to be a religion." This is true. But ,oh how the founding fathers learned what a control device it could be and is! People are greedy. Some more than others. If all Christian denominations REALLY followed Jesus' teachings, there would be no wealthy churches. One in particular has amassed a fortune in real estate, precious objects, priceless antiquities, and still claims it needs contributions for the poor. That makes me laugh. So who's glorifying who? Glory to God? I doubt it. Glory of wealth is more likely. Like I said, people are greedy, especially those who pretend not to be. Besides, I don't believe any one has risen, walked on water, turned water into wine, or any thing. Jesus was a brilliant young man, but a MAN, not a god. The bible was written by MEN, not a god. Stop being influenced by all the dogma and you will be surprised what you learn.

But isn't the act of believing a "work"? (If you don't do it, you're doomed.) A benevolent God would make salvation the default, not the option. People would be condemned for rebelling, not for failing to make the effort to believe.
"Religion", has come to mean the doctrinal and procedural trappings that become institutionalized over time. In that you are correct. These were the things that Jesus condemned in the Pharisees. There's nothing wrong with developing a new community expression of faith, or even repeating it at times. The problem is making it mandatory for "salvation". God, I suspect, is far less intrested in innovations or traditions in worship styes than in demonstrations that being Christian changes the way one lives in the world. In Amos 8:4-7, God overhears pious businessmen dutifully fulfilling their religious obligations while planning how they will cheat customers the following day. "Belief" is clearly not enough. God can tell when one is faking. But people can too, it will show. If all a faith proclamation does is make the believer show up regularly at church on Sunday, that's not real faith. Real faith will show up on the weekdays, at home, at work and in the public square, in compassion, healing, relief and encouragement. That's what real "religion" is.

Religion is just mans way of trying to get to God...that's all, maybe you guys are doing it the wrong way maybe? Who knows, all I know is that if there IS a God out there, he probably WOULD hate any and all religions...I mean, look how some people treat God, as a scapegoat to do whatever they want...or how they go and put all this stuff of J.C. when he might not have really said anything, and how they listen to a book and not their hearts....that's why I think a God would hate religion...but that's just my opinion. I don't beleive in God but if there IS a God, then I would think the ones who do good works because they want and not because of dogma, regardless of religion, will get a better chance of the Happy Place, in comparison to those who do good things because it says so in the Bible, and that if you do you go to Heaven, and those who don't do anything because of what you outlined above, all you need to do is believe, no good works, etc. Just my opinion and I guess....

Salvation must be worked on daily, it is not just a one time thing of accepting Christ and poof you have your salvation. One must work hard to stay away from sin. One must also seek forgiveness from God and those who they have sinned against. One must also being in a committed relationship with Christ doing His will. Religion is man made, not God made. God established a church, not a religion
"As the Bible says, I am already saved (Rom. 8:24, Eph. 2:5–8), but I’m also being saved (1 Cor. 1:8, 2 Cor. 2:15, Phil. 2:12), and I have the hope that I will be saved (Rom. 5:9–10, 1 Cor. 3:12–15). Like the apostle Paul I am working out my salvation in fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12), with hopeful confidence in the promises of Christ (Rom. 5:2, 2 Tim. 2:11–13)."

James 2:26 and Luke 13:23 to 25
Faith requires action.
This why God hates religion because they teach people things like what you are talking about, not what God teaches in his bible.
If you read these scriptures you should realize how wrong you are.

I agree, it (religion) also puts faith in man which we know is not right. People who are faithful to an organized religion are often seen quoting man's word over God's word... OR only quoting God's Word in a way that a man (or men) have told them to. I cant imagine God likes this much at all :\

So, what you are saying is that you can do anything to anyone and still be saved. What a crock.
Jesus provided a set of rules for you to live by so that society could survive peacefully, If you don't follow the rules, others suffer
Your method is a cop out, the easy way. According to your system, you will be sharing heaven with hitler

I agree with your answer to your question. Religion gets in my way to God. God doesn't need me but He wants me. Me trying to do stuff to get to Him is a distraction. He's already made the way for me.
Hey ServantOfGod, this dude isn't using JD. He's got JC. Sorry, had to say that......

Oh, so you talk to God? You know what He knows? How lucky I am to meet Mr. Perfect. Go drink some more Jack Daniels, Mr. Jack Daniels. For me, I love the Catholic religion, thank you very much.
