That's what the Holy Spirit does, not Christianity.

That gets to the heart of the matter huh, what it means is only the Holy Spirit can convict a person of the sins in their heart and get them to truly repent. Only a repentive heart gets forgiveness. There a lot of so called Christians who profess with their mouths but there heart is far from Christ. Sometimes people will just say a sinners pray and think they are alright, but if you can't serve Jesus during the week and at your job, going to Church on Sunday morning isnot going to make you any more of a Christian. Our lives are a sermon, I heard it put once like this, A preacher said that If I go to your job site and ask them if you are a Christian how many of your coworkers would know. I liked his example, think about, does the people around us know we are Christians, if they don't something is terribly wrong. Great question, God Bless YOU!!!! Numbers 6:24-26

Biggest bunch of BS I've heard all day, and I hope you don't take it seriously. Neither Christianity nor any other religion has the right to "burden the heart." And despite claims, religion can't fix things for you. Sooner or later, with any sort of awareness, the living process burdens and breaks the heart. I have concluded that whether we allow circumstances to make or destroy us depends on the strength of our inner spirit. Its either there and strong, or its absent. If we retain some spirit, even if hidden under a huge pile of lifetime effluvia, the right person or circumstance will help to expose it.If we don't, no amount of self or church engendered hypnosis, tithing, fasting, prayer, Bible reading, corporal works of mercy etc can fix us. It's an inside job.For me, to uncover one's own truth, nasty warts and all, and then to face it sans a bunch of theological trappings, means to be set free..

CHRISTIANITY DOES NOT BURDEN THE HEART BUT THE HOLY SPIRIT, ONE OF THE TRINITY, BURDENS THE HEART ABOUT SINS COMMITTED AND THE NEED TO ACCEPT JESUS AS LORD AND SAVIOUR. ONCE YOU'VE ACCEPTED HIM INTO YOUR LIFE AND HEART, THE HOLY SPIRIT MAY PLACE A BURDEN ON YOUR HEART IN REGARD TO TESTIFYING TO SOMEONE OR IN ANOTHER WAY. AND WE WHO ARE SAVED SHOULD ALWAYS RESPOND TO THAT BURDEN WHAT EVER IT IS. IN LIKE MANNER THOSE WHO ARE UNSAVED ARE URGED TO RESPOND TO THE BURDEN THE HOLY SPIRIT PLACES ON THE HEART BEFORE WE DIE BECAUSE AFTER THAT IT IS TOO LATE.

It means that in order to get converts, Christianity must first scare people with eternal hellfire (burdening the heart) and then must remove that fear by promising eternal bliss (which lightens it).

Life burdens us, not having a relationship with God so we can unburden ourselves is not an albatross. Not having any entity to give our problems to is a burden. Not the other way around.
may peace be with you

Contrary to most of the other opinions on here, I reckon this:
It refers to suffering after you've become a Christian, the type that naturally comes as persecution not the sadomasochist type. The natural suffering helps you to grow spiritually and show empathy & love towards other people suffering similar plights.

I don't believe that It certainly wasn't true in my case. Christ said "come unto me all ye that are heavy laden" and He would set them free. This has always meant to me the burden of the cares of the world. God laid the sin of mankind on one person, Jesus the Christ.

Religions generally work by causing people to suffer mental breakdowns through guilting them about the state of the world etc and lovebombing them till the social circle of the cult becomes addictive then reforming them in mindless zombie state.
Burdening and Lightening
