Hi 3, Enjoy your day.
Speaking God's name in that way is blasphemy and demonstrates the fact that these people have absolutely no knowledge of God's saving grace.
Taking the Lord's name in vain has deeper implications.
Throughout the Old Testament "name" is synonymous with "character".
In that light, when a person takes the Lord's name in vain they are claiming to have the character of God and to be part of His family.
Sadly there are many pseudo Christians who are living with the mistaken belief that once saved is always saved.
On Judgement Day they will find out to their cost that they were wrong.
Your presence in that office could be the only time that those ignorant people come face to face with Christianity. Make the most of it. We are called to witness every day and we can do this merely by being humble, gentle and kind.
Remember Jesus said that the meek shall inherit the earth.
May God Bless you.
H'chat.

HOLY COW! Well, it's most likely because they don't love and/or value God. Furthermore, they may not even think there's anything wrong with doing so. Since I have a relationship with the Lord and love Him with every fiber of my being, I do NOT use His name in vain because I know it is wrong.
7 "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name."
~Exodus 20:7 (New International Version)~
EDIT: Ooooooooooooooooooh! I like what DC said. I AGREE! I AGREE!

I doubt anyone means to offend you whan they say things like this. It's just part of the English language and evidence of the Christian Church's influence on western society through the ages.
You better just get used to it, cause if you force a belief on people like the Church has done the belief becomes their property as much as it is yours, regardless of whether they adopt it or not.
I bet you don't complain when people say thing's like heavenly, godsend, devilish, angelic or thank god for that etc.

All of you holier than thou people who use terms like Holy Cow or Gosh Darn, are expressing the same exact emotion that someone saying Holy **** or God Damn is. You do realize that dont you? Do you think that by using a different version of these curses that you are doing anything different? They are Words. If there happens to be a God i really doubt that he is going to differentiate between the versions.

most people who talk this was do NOT believe in God or they only SAY they are Christians...
But not only this because everyone around a child as they are growing up says it... they are conditioned into not realizing or believing that it is bad or wrong to say...
A lot of what people say and or do is conditioned into them by the people they spend the most time around. (or even what they watch on TV)

Because they are either not afraid enough of God and belive in no Hell, or it makes them look badder and tougher than they really are. With words like you described, you must work in Philadelphia. Lots of ******* there, especially after the Glorious Redskins beat the lowly eagles.

Because not everyone believes in god.
Swearing at work no matter which terms you choose is just a bad idea in general.
