I feel that I'm a very social person and know all the right things to say when I know a person very well, but I lack when I don't know the other person. To be honest, when I don't really know a person, I don't really care to have a conversation (I hate the way that sounds) but Id like to know how I can improve at least pretending to be interested without being fake. Has anyone ever experienced this before or if you have suggestions on how to improve?

Don't want to point the finger at any one group in R&S, but wow. I just asked a question and it never ceases to amaze me how the answers in no way even hint at answering my question. Isn't it frustrating?

One thing I always wondered, ok, i am not a saint, I used to party as much as I could afford or had time to , specially in the punk rock days of the early 90's, ahhhh, good times.......oh back to the question, anyways, i am an adult with kids, I do still like to party but most , have an occasional social drinking benge and some bar hopping and skinny dipping, natural. But I see alot of poeple my age and with kids , and they still act like they party like they dont have a care in the world for anyone and their kids. They party hardy in front of their kids like there's no tomorrow. I sometimes think they are running from smoething, trying to consume to forget mabye? Its not that I condem it or am a prude or square but I always wondered. I can never bring myself to drink all the freakin time, I have things to do. Its almost like, well, maybe to the mexican culture it is normal to party most the time, I guess thats why alot have colon cancer and such. Or is it more a popularity stint?

Do you live by "an eye for an eye" or "turn the other cheek"?

It says both in the bible, yet they contradict each other.
If you live by one, you disobey the other, yet they are both the word of God, so you are automatically going to hell for disobeying the word of God, whichever one you choose.

The notion that America is a Christian nation, or was founded as a Christian nation, is debated widely. But I see two possible meanings here. It could mean that the nation was founded on Christian principles (in conjunction with Enlightenment philosophies) and continues to be overwhelmingly Christian in its populous. Another meaning is that it was founded to be Christian and remains so, as an extension of pursuits towards Christ in governance.

In my last question, many of you stated in your answers that Satan is the reason why we doubt God. So, if God is all-powerful, isn't he more powerful than Satan? Why can't he just stop Satan from infesting us with all these wretched, awful atheistic ideas?

The Nag Hammadi Library, a collection of thirteen ancient codices containing over fifty texts, was discovered in upper Egypt in 1945. This immensely important discovery includes a large number of primary Gnostic scriptures -- texts once thought to have been entirely destroyed during the early Christian struggle to define "orthodoxy" -- scriptures such as the Gospel of Thomas, the Gospel of Philip, and the Gospel of Truth.

There are those who would say, "Read the word, and you will be able to discern the truth", to not be shaken in your faith, when confronted with a mystery.

I personally do not feel books are necessary to obtain knowledge of a Supreme Being.

But I find it fascinating that there are writings attributed to Thomas, the doubter.

Do you think these "books" contain truth?

I just converted to LDS and got baptised at the end of July. My boyfriend and I were fooling around and got too close to sex. He put it in a couple of times but I stopped it. Then at church he told me I couldn't take sacrament. I was so upset. Then he said that we may as well have sex. So I did. I wouldn't have considered the previous as sex before I got baptised. So I thought I was fine. Now I feel like I was somewhat tricked into having sex with him. I know I still did it tho after. I just thought I may as well since he told me it was too late til I repented with the President. I know that it won't happen again until we get married. If I know it won't happen again, can I take the sacrament or do I need to talk to the President still? I really don't like the idea of sharing my personal information with someone I don't know. I don't have a problem. Sex won't happen again.

Do you realize that if that WERE to ever happen, we would lose a lot of fundamental freedoms and the same negative things that adversely affect other theocrasies in other countries would affect us here? Namely:

1. Sectarian violence- there are many different Christian sects, which one exactly will have the FINAL rule of law? The Roman Catholics, Conservative Evangelists, Liberal Evangelists, Lutherans, Southern Baptists, etc?

2. America will cease to exist as it was meant to, "Land of the Free Home The Brave" with Liberty and Justice for all. Large sectors of the population will be excluded from the selected Christian religious laws.

Also, don't you think it is ironic that people who live in religious theocracsies are fleeing to live in Europe and North America where there is secular democracy, social freedoms and protection of minorities?

Doesn't that tell you something?

Recently, my (former) christian friend invited me to his father's funeral.
As he was talking to me about his father's death, he cried uncontrollably.
So I said to him, if you are a real christian you will stop that stupid crying and move on.
I mean like, come on, christians believe you go to heaven after you die.
Well, after I related this to my friend he went beserk telling me I'm going to burn in hell.
Christians, don't you realize everytime you get angry at atheists for no good reason, you make yourself look like an idiot.
It is not logical for any person to cry when someone dies.
Thank gesus I'm an atheist.
Look at me, I'm an atheist, and I know more how you should act than you know how to read your buybill!

alright so i believe in god. i know he is there and all but i dont FEEL him. i dont pray as much as i used to because when i did i didnt feel anything. i could have a horrible fight with my dad, go and cry on my bed and pray to him and not feel like he was there.

i just feel so alone sometimes so i just go ahead and live my life. i go to church because my parents make me and i do want to have a stronger faith life like i used to but i just dont see the point in it any more. i dont feel like god is even there.

everyone is all like "god is so active in my life" and "god is speaking to me" and i just dont hear that. when i sit alone in a room, i feel truely alone. sometimes when i am going through a hard time i feel like there is no one there for me.

i just dont get it.

has anyone had these feelings before?
what do i do?
is this athiest of me?

This is an foreign exchange student from Japan in my Focus Group class. We just sit there for 25 minutes doing nothing. Well anyways. She knows English, but I don't think she is so comfortable speaking it yet. So I think if I greet her in a traditional Japanese way she may get comfortable enough to talk some more. I was born in America and no English excellently but maybe if she sees and Arab speaking English she won't mind talking more.

So how do Japans teens great each other? I want to know how to say,

Hello, my name is ....
How are you?
And then say something else that may be another cool greeting.

I always had a thing for Eastern Asian girls so please don't screw this up for me.

I have a moderate to severe hearing loss. I go to a resource room for extra help and have a assistant with me the most of the day. She also does other activities outside of school with me. Yeah I wish I could have a normal teenage life. I try not to let my disability or my other needs get in the way of making new friends or getting a girlfriend. But it does since I am in that category. I am not popular and tend to be shy which I am trying to outgrow. Living a normal life is hard even if you have a mild disability. Many people overthink my disability and think I am incapable of doing things. I also have Charge Syndrome but a very mild case of it. My parents force to me to learn about that syndrome but I refuse because it does not make me who I am. My disability does not make me who I am.
