These feelings can be normal. Alas, never fear, God would never leave you, never! You have lost touch with him, but he still holds his arms open wide. You may be learning the lesson of total reliance on God for your needs. Stop trying to fix things yourself and alone and reach out to God and ask for help. Tell him you are weak in faith right now and need his strength to make your faith more strong so that you can feel his presence again. Keep asking, he WILL answer. Keep praying from your heart and God will make himself know to you again. And yes, I have felt this same way at times. GOD DOES NOT LEAVE YOU!!
Your not an Atheist. You WANT God to be with you, you are just having a hard time with faith right now. Hang in there!
Email me if you feel the need to talk.

When you go through a period like this, it could be that you are on the verge of a huge spiritual breakthrough.
Jesus said, "I will never leave you or forsake you, even unto the ends of the earth." So God is with you, even though you don't feel his presence.
In any relationship you have to get beyond "feeling" to just trust and commitment.
Maybe God is speaking, but you're not hearing what you wanted to hear -- maybe right now all he is saying is "Wait..."
Everyone goes through spiritual dry spells, even the most famous saints and believers of history. Don't worry. Just read the Bible once in awhile. The easiest translation to understand is "The Message."
Peace to you

I used to feel that way, too. I prayed and got no answers, felt like I was talking to the ceiling, and envied people who said they talked to God all the time. I never felt anything or anyone. It's one of several reasons why I finally gave up on the Christian God. There might be a God out there somewhere, but apparently he/she/it is not to be contacted via prayer. Remember, just because people SAY their God is real, doesn't mean he is. Anyone can say anything, anyone can write anything in a book, label it "holy scriptures," and say God told them to write it, and then make you feel guilty because it doesn't seem to make sense. Maybe it's time to try Buddhism, Hinduism, or some other religion. Also, you need to make more friends so that you have someone to talk to about your problems.

I've felt somewhat like that...
Sometimes its not about feelings. At times like that all you can do is hang on to your faith... though you're not feeling or hearing anything, you KNOW he's there. Its hard, believe me, I know.
Hon, this is definitely not atheistic of you. Every christian goes through times like that. Continue praying , reading the Bible and all that regardless. Your faith will be stronger, its testing times like that that strengthen your faith.
Its like driving through a long tunnel. Its dark for a while, but you know that you'll come out back into the light.

I am speaking from someone who doesn't know too much about religon and never goes to church. I will say though that I do pray at times. I have prayed for years at a time and I really have felt that god is right there with me listening. Other times like the past year I try to pray but just like you I don't feel it. I honestly believe its just what is going on in our lives at the times sometimes deters us from believing. It will come back to you soon. This may sound dumb but when I can't pray to God I "pray" or talk to my grandmother who is passed away. Its more real for me because I know she is up there because she is not here anymore. I hope I helped and didn't confuse you even more.

You seem pretty young. A lot of people feel the way you are feeling but they feel that they want this in their lives so they go along with just belonging. This gives them comfort. Take all this one day at a time you will either become a true Christian or perhaps find another way to celebrate God or you may turn out to be an atheist.

Sometimes we expect to "feel something" when we pray, sometimes we need to "say something" when we pray, sometimes we want to "hear something" when we pray.
These are all attitudes that reflect our needs for prayer, but have little to do with the actual process of prayer.
Here's something for you to google: Who was Elijah and what was he doing on that mountain?
There is more to prayer than prayer of petitions... try praying in praise, or praying in thanksgiving. Prayer develops your relationship with God, and CHANGES YOU.
Paul urges us to "pray without ceasing"...The more you pray, the less begging and the more listening you will do.
Listen to the gospels: count how many times you hear that Jesus, the very Son of God, went apart from the disciples to pray... Be comforted, many of those who claim a close relationship with God are lying only to impress you. Always be honest in your prayer life, always be real and true in your worship, and know that we all have dark nights of the soul in our years of spiritual development.

Dear just me,
You do not have to listen to me and that is for sure....but let me recommend this to you. Go to www.FamilyRadio.com. Check out the local FamilyRadio broadcasts in your area--the website will tell you the radio station. There is a program called "Open Forum" that is on from 7:30-9:00pm weekdays. People call-in with their questions and the host answers it from the Bible. They have a toll-free number so anyone can call-in with their questions.
You can also listen via the internet at www.FamilyRadio.org. I hope that you will hear something that will encorage you and strengthen you.

Well, the reason people believe he is there is because they try and trick themselves into believing that. This always happened to me, I would try and pray and find god, but he never answered any prayers or showed any sign that he was there or anything. This is when I started wondering if there really is a god or not. i think you are slowly realizing that there is no man in the sky looking after us.

You still feel you should be looking for something bigger than you "OUT THERE"
The only comfort security faith or company you truly are going to find is through your own spirit in YOU
I went through that many years ago after terrible times
finally I became my own strength because there just wasnt anything else
through the years since this has grown in me tremendously
good luck!
