Please step forward and state your religion and your reason for rejecting a scientific theory. And please be honest, when it comes right down to it, is this rejection motivated by your religion? Would you reject the theory of electromagnetism if your holy book had an alternate explanation?

Just once I would like to see a reasoned criticism of the Catholic Church instead of one creating a straw man belief that is not a belief of Catholicism and then attack that belief as if it was Catholic, such as:

Catholics worship Mary.
Catholics practice works righteousness.
Catholic beliefs are not biblical.
Catholics forbid their members from reading the Bible.
Constantine created the Church.
The Church practices derived from Pagan practices.
Catholics pray to dead people.

Just to name a few!

I have no problem with people disagreeing with Catholic practices and beliefs. My problem is with those who create practices and beliefs that are not Catholic and claim Catholic error when attacking what Catholics do not believe or practice in the first place. Isn't this bearing false witness against others and Christ's Church?

I recently checked out "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins from the library. How many of you have read it, and what are thoughts and opinions on it?

I've been w/ the b/f for 1.5 years now.. we're both juniors in college. Lately, we've just been fighting so much lately, like over "nothing." There's so much tension built up and misunderstandings. He tells me that I'm immature and disrespectful. Its just I miss the way things USED to be. Like I used to feel like he did truly love me and he'd do anything for me, I felt like he was proud that I was his girlfriend. He says he still does LOVE me and he truly does want us to work, but he also says things need to change. He says sometimes he dreads hanging out with me because we fight so much lately, and he would rather sit in his apartment by himself rather then come visit me. He says that I need to be not so attached, but he used to LOVE to come hang out with me and always WANTED to. I feel like he just does it because he feels like he has to even though he says he truly does want to be there. He doesnt want to break up he says, but I'm scared its gonna lead to that. What do I do?

To me as a high school student, I think they could both have happen. God could have created us and then we could have changed over time. Is it just because man doesn't want to believe they could have primates as ancestors?

Heb 10:6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

Seems the Father had no pleasure in Jesus' sacrifice for sin. Does that mean he was displeased with it?

It states in the book of john that the word, meaning jesus became flesh and dwelt among us.
This means christians, the word is god and not the bible.
I'm an atheist, who never really reads the bible, but I understand it better than you deluded christians.
Please stay tuned for lesson 6 in atheism conquers christianity.

Sometimes I watch cartoons and marvel at some of the subtleties and innuendo. It would take a pretty bright child to catch some of those meanings.

And they were violent. Poor Wile E. Coyote got flattened so many times, yet he popped right back up, ready for another rock to fall on him.

I think if children nowadays were to see some of those old cartoons we all loved so dearly, they'd have nightmares.

(They've been brought up in a sanitized world that has no bearing on reality.)

I've seen a lot of questions on here regarding dark gums...

Pigmentation of the gums (dark color seen at the gingiva) is generally physiological (normal) depending on the person's race. African Americans present more pigmentation, thus gums may have a darker color, especially in some areas. This is generally seen symmetrically (present both in right and left sites).

Sometimes, darker color may happen due to a foreign body. It generally occurs due to amalgam restoration materials staying around following tooth extraction, etc. [It looks like a tattoo.]

And sometimes, they may be related to a local pathology affecting melanin-releasing cells
It may also be related to systemic health problems, especially related to blood cells. Thus, I recommend you visit a pedodontist (dentist with a speciality in children's oral health) if you do not have African American, Mediterranean, Asian, etc. background and/or if the color changes are newly noticed and/or if the color change is not symmetrical.

The Civil Rights Movement? I can remember following it so avidly, being horrified at the church bombings, the march to Selma and the two people killed. Martin Luther King Jr. assassinated. It seemed so remote and far away from Canada.

We lived through some really MAJOR history

What does it accomplish?

It is amazing that people do not bother to research Catholic beliefs before making false assumptions about Catholic beliefs and practices. Non-Catholic Christians who attack Christ's Church with false accusations only make themselves appear ignorant.

Most of the accusations against Christ's Church are so ridiculous it would be like a Catholic saying that all Pentecostals, Baptists, Presbyterians, Methodists and non-denominationalists are Satan worshippers. That would be bearing false witness just the same as the Catholic haters, but then hatred only goes one way as Catholics are faithful in loving their enemies and having charity towards those lacking their grace and truth. May the Lord have mercy.

I'm sorry but I absolutely hate freshmen. They are so immature, especially the boys. Oh my god, they act like freaking pimps when they're like only 3 feet tall. Ugh and don't get me started on the girls. Why do freshmen girls act like such sluts? They're like mini-Paris Hiltons. I just had my second day of school yesterday and I just want to go up to the little freshmen and smack them. And i don't hate them just because they're freshmen and it's tradition, but some of them are real jerks/whores. They act like the own the hallway like its freaking middle school! But today they learned their lesson. IT'S FRESHMEN FRIDAYYYY! Haha upperclassmen brought in freaking eggs and ****. It was so funny. I'm so glad I'm a senior. Then i can leave this teenybopper hell hole and go on to the real world. Ugh one more year...

Btw, in high school.

Do you really think there's no afterlife whatsoever?

Oh sure, I know many athiests are quick to say that there's an afterlife for all in the sense that your body merely changes form. The molecules are rearranged, and enery (almost) never dies.

But don't you think that we have any ongoing expereince or life after the death of our bodies?

And if the answer is 'NO', then is there any point to life at all?
