I commited suicide when i was 24 yrs. old. I actually died! and when my soul left my body, satan had my left wrist saying she's mine now, But Jesus my lord and saviour had my right wrist pulling me back toward him and saying no she is not !Needless to say if Jesus was'nt there for me I would be in hell today. Burning forever!!! because not only did i commit suicide, i commited murder. And i was'nt born again, meaning i had not yet ask God to forgive me of my sin's. there is a God and he loves us all so much, but it is our choice to believe and recieve eternal life with him. all you have to do is ask God to forgive you of your sins and change your heart to live for him and he will,it's that easy! time is getting short on this earth, and on judgement day it may be to late unless you seek God. I am telling the truth and pray this will help you who do not believe. you can't see air but it's there or we would'nt be able to breath. Just because you can't see him does'nt mean he's not there.

assuming it truly is the Word of God (not saying it is, assuming it is) should people interpret the Bible literally or metaphorically?

literally is the most natural, logical choice. but just because logic works for worldly matters does this mean it that it definitely will work for infinitely complex premises such as God true meaning?

a case could be made for metaphorical interpretations too -- Jesus himself communicated with the people through parables, a form of metaphor. during the times much of the Bible was written, allegories (another form of metaphor) was a very common form of communication. we all know that the Bible contains contradictions (if we were to interpret literally), does that mean a metaphorical interpretation is the correct one? we all know passages such as this are meant to be metaphorically interpreted:

"ye are the salt of the earth"

for all we know, maybe they all are meant to be metaphorically interpreted. your thoughts?

2600 years, and the other by hebrew prophets Isaiah and Micah about 800 years before Jesus was born. You can't find "eternal life" written anywhere in the Old Testament, but you find it within the sacred words of Egypt. Jewish faith does not accept Jesus as their Messiah.

My question is this. Why do christians INSIST that Jesus was the messiah of the Jews, when data contradicts it ?

The Apostle Paul so hated Chistianity that he went about KILLING Christians before he had a powerful encounter with the resurrected Jesus Christ himself.

Will Christians join with me and pray for Mr. Dawkins having an encounter with that same Jesus?

“This separation is critical to our form of government because in the end, democracy demands that the religiously motivated translate their concerns into universal, rather than religion-specific, values. It requires that their proposals be subject to argument, and amenable to reason. If I am opposed to abortion for religious reasons but seek to pass a law banning the practice, I cannot simply point to the teachings of my church. I have to explain why abortion violates some principle that is accessible to people of all faiths, including those with no faith at all.” - Barack Obama's speech on faith

Evolution has a ton of evidence. Creationism has no evidence. I don't believe in evolution because no one can prove it without a doubt. Therefore creationism is true.

Is that about it?

I have a guy friend who is extremely cheap. Everytime he or we go out to eat, he always finds a way to never pay for the meal.

For example, he will say he needs to run to his car and we go with him. Then we just leave. We must have done this like 30 something times and he never seems to get caught.

Now I don't agree with it but I mean, I am noit going to walk in there or come back after we bailed. he walked out of Walmart last week with a TV.

I think he's a theif but he told me he's an opportunist. he feels he should never stealk from his friends but its ok from big corporate america. Is it right what he is doing? I think he needs to knock it off.

In the bible it says that Jesus cured people (leaper, etc) by placing his hands on them. Surely if he was God, he would merely have to 'think' and the person would be cured, why put our his hands to do this?

Was it do show people he could do it?
Or was it made up by those who wrote the book wanted something a bit more interesting?

How does "God" (I use this term loosly, because the God I believe in isn't anything like the Christian God) explain Himself? It's ok for a person to spend 60 years of his life raping children, killing, abusing, mutilating people and on his deathbed repents and is let into heaven? And a Buddhist who spends her whole life giving to the community, saving lives, and pours out nothing but respect goes to hell just because she didn't accept Jesus into her heart? That is something else. And according to the OT God commanded his followers to war with other nations to take their land (didn't Jesus say turn the other cheek?) and pretty much taught "do what I say, not as I do...." I just don't know how anyone can accept this doctrine as Gods! Isn't it possible that man added what he wanted just to have control over the masses? Hmmmm?

And don't think I am disrespecting you. If you have faith and live a good life then I am happy for you.. but what I stated just doesn't describe a loving God.
