The reason is that God doesn't want all people with him.

How often and how many ways do people have to ask this question.
The whole thing is as simple as pie.
God created people with the ability to choose.
In order to to choose you need three things. Two choices and a place to be when you choose.
Heaven is one choice. Hell is another choice. Earth is where you hang out while you make the decision.
Heaven is for people; who believe that God's rules make sense, admit they make mistakes, learn from their mistakes and become better people.
Hell is for people who think; God's rules are a joke, they don't make mistakes or if they do - so what, who cares if you learn anything and who think they are as good as they will ever be.
In a lot of ways it is like school. The people who follow the rules and learn graduate. The people who don't get expelled or flunk out.
Why does everyone make this stuff hard, it is all really easy.
God just started doing it long before public schools did.
PS: God created some Angels with Freewill, but, without anything to choose from some of the angels rebelled. Rebellion was their "only choice" since they "didn't like" the way things were (they couldn't be in charge).
To eliminate rebellions God created Hell for people who did not want to be in Heaven. That way everyone who wanted to be in charge could argue among themselves who was in charge. Lucifer figures he is going to run things forever, just like every other lame jerk.

The devil is ONLY ONE of the reasons why people doubt God.
There is also the world and the flesh.
The world system of mankind is still trying to build a tower of Babel where there is an "almighty" government which would control all people....to do the will of those who are charge as the government.
The "flesh" is each person's will to do what they want without regard to what God wants.
All three of these oppose God. And you see it would not be possible to "strip" all of them of their power without enslaving everyone ie. stripping them of any free will.

Because God gave us "free will" to "choose" for ourselves what we want. He doesn't want to force anyone to love Him. It's your choice.
He could anytime strip Satan of his powers. It's coming soon. A long time for us but a very short time for God. Read revelations. ( A day with the Lord is a 1000 years to man )
So, the choice is yours. Believe or not?

Because God won't force you to choose him. He will only provide for you a way to be with him in the end. You must choose: eternal life or eternal death. God won't choose for you. It's kind of like a test to see who has what it takes to live in heaven, and who doesn't.
You cannot spend your life rejecting Jesus, and think you can still go to heaven anyway. Who do you think you are? Do you think you're more special then the rest of us? Do you think you deserve to be rewarded for rejecting God? Doesn't it make more sense that God would reward those who accept him? You have been given the right to choose eternal death.
Good luck!

the god christians believe in is just a god who creates people as puppets and controls them and makes them believe they are free to do what they want but they must want to worship him otherwise they will be punished

Cause then it wouldn't be faith... faith is the evidence of things not seen...
God created Angels to worship Him without free will, I think He had something different in mind when He created us!

My lady, free will leads us to either path no yet chosen. The choice seems simple yet we are tempted by the seven deadly sins.
