It seems to me Atheists and Fundamentalists have a lot in common. Just exchange science for God...both tend to stridency, condemnation and ridicule...

I've seen too many atheists come onto this site and bash religion, and yet no one says a thing to them. However, show any sort of religious belief and you are ostracized. Religious people are often accused of being "closed-minded" (a term which I do not believe has a valid definition) and yet couldn't we equally say atheists are "closed-minded" because they can't accept that some people have religious beliefs? We already know you all atheists don't believe in God, so what point do you non-believers have in coming on here and constantly bashing us believers with any chance you can get? Stop being so "closed-minded" and accept that we believe in God. And stop trying to pursue legal channels in an attempt to make it where we can't even say the word "God" anymore in public you un-American non-freedom of speech believers.

The Quran, The Bible, Jewish teachings all speak of Jesus. They speak of him in different ways, but still speak of Jesus nonetheless. I know that I haven't mentioned every religion (or book) that refers to Jesus in its history in some fashion, but with all the differences between these religions, wouldn't it be safe to say that Jesus did exist in some way shape or form? It seems like that is the only thing most religions agree on.

ok my lil brother 11 and his boy scout troop lost a relay race to the girl scouts so then the girls got to dress the boys like girls it was so funi i got to watch because i had to go to the meeting and they put my bro in a frilly pink dress , a lot of makeup and a bow in his hiar the girls were having the times of their lifes do you think this was funi?

If you live in the Carolinas or travel there often I need more info. I am looking for small towns, not tourist attractions. My husband and I love to deep sea fish and enjoy some country living as well. We are looking for the best of both worlds. The Carolinas sound like a beautiful place. We don't need to be dirrectly on the ocean, but close by. Within 45 minutes to the sea:~)

Hosea 1 says, "When the Lord first began speaking to Israel through Hosea, he said to him, 'Go and marry a prostitute, so that some of her children will be conceived in prostitution.'"
According to literal translation, the woman God told Hosea to marry was a prostitute BEFORE he married her. If sex automatically constitutes a marriage in God's eyes, then God just commanded one of his own people to marry someone else's wife. That is adultery.

One thing I'll never understand about the religiously devout is their patent contempt for scientific inquiry.

If the universe is the work of a creator god, doesn't it only make sense that such a powerful god would be guided by logic and reason? Doesn't it only make sense that such a god would appreciate humanity's curiousity?

Is it not the case that Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus and others are actually showing contempt for their respective gods by embracing dogmas which are ultimately self-serving, hypocritical and devoid of reason?

I would respectfully submit that any god capable of creating a universe as vast and complex as the one we reside in, MUST be much more vast and complex than any religion can account for.

So why not humble yourself and admit that what you think to be true (through personal experience) or believe to be true (through religious dogma) is grossly inadequate to postulate the true nature of existence?

I would really like to know how many Atheists/Agnostics have ever looked beyond Fundamentalism? I've noticed that most Atheist challenges on here have to do with literal views of the Bible, and archaic notions of God. It's easy to reduce things to their simplest forms and then dismiss and ridicule them.

The Bible is a compilation of stories written by different people. God didnt write it, even the Pope knows it. Where did they learn that?

I think that you must read it and understand the philosophy behind the stories and keep the good values... How come some ignorants follow the Bible as if it was the qu'ran? lol
