The queen of england, when on public duty, only crosses her ankles. This is due to the fact that, since the heightened terrorist alarms, she wears titanium panties for protection. These security panties make it uncomfortable if not physically impossible to cross one's legs at, for example, the knee.

Presumably, the Queen crosses her legs only at the ankles because to do otherwise is bad form, and to cross one's legs at the knees causes spider veins in the legs. Nineteenth-century etiquette manuals permitted women to cross their legs only at the ankles, and Emily Post still counsels job seekers to avoid crossing their legs entirely and to avoid any informal poise.

I think I saw somewhere that royalty will only cross their legs at the ankle, so when they are sitting, they will gently place one foot behind the other and catch the front of the foot behind the other's ankle. I think lifting the crossed leg that high for a "traditional leg crossing" is impolite within the court.

I believe she crosses her legs like any other woman and for the same reason,i.e. so that no one can look up her skirt. I would add that, unlike some of her progeny, she behaves and acts like a gentle-person. Please use upper case when referring to this lady.
