Religion can clearly count against education. I mean, a person can devote their entire lives to studying the bible and spreading their interpretation of it to other people, but they probably never would have opened an encyclopedia. The human mind can hold a lot of knowledge but it is not without limit. The more knowledge the better, but religion is not knowledge at all; it is belief.

So if religion is an opposition to education, isn’t it the same vice versa?

today was the worst day in my entire 23 years in this earth. today while dirving i almsot fainted [i havent slept for the past 6 days because of serious insomnia], i was 30 min late to my class, i lost my earrings that my 12 year old cousin saved his allowance to buy for me...the only upside of my day was that i napped for 1h or so...i have been sad previously, plus yesterday a beloved family member died...i dont want to say can it be worse because then it will...any words of enouragement??? this was such a bad day man..

I get the feeling that most of the atheists on this website are not really serious about anything they say. I think that most of the insults they come up with are just to get a quick laugh by pissing off all the fundamentalist Christians on this website, and that they really don't mean most of what they say. I also get the feeling that every Christian on this website is dead serious with everything they say and ask. Does anyone else think I am right????

I have listened as it was explained to me that mankind did not evolve from apes, but from a "common ancestor"...
I have wondered about Australia. I listened carefully as it was explained to me that the animals in Australia are so different from animals elsewhere, because the continent of Australia is cut off from the rest of the world.
Makes sense...
But then, how did the aborigines get there? I mean, there don't seem to be any apes about...and yet, there are men there.
I've been told that there was no 'land bridge'...that is why Australia has animals that can't be found anywhere else, like kangaroos, koala bears, and the duckbilled platypus.
But obviously, the aborigines didn't evolve from any of these...
I'm not trying to dis the theory...but I do find myself with alot of questions.
If anyone has any serious answers that might be helpful, I would be grateful...
I'll try to weed them out from among all the sarcastic answers I know are coming...

Lt. Gen. William G. "Jerry" Boykin, is a much-decorated and twice-wounded veteran of covert military operations.

From the bloody 1993 clash with Muslim warlords in Somalia chronicled in "Black Hawk Down" and the the ill-fated attempt to rescue American hostages in Iran in 1980, Boykin was in the thick of things.

Boykin had advised for the gas attack on barricaded cultists at Waco, Texas.

He also had lost 18 men in Somalia trying to capture a warlord in the notorious Black Hawk Down fiasco of 1993.

Discussing the battle against a Muslim warlord in Somalia, Boykin told another audience, "I knew my God was bigger than his. I knew that my God was a real God and his was an idol."

"We in the army of God, in the house of God, kingdom of God have been raised for such a time as this," Boykin said last year.

He was at the heart of a secret operation to "Gitmoize" (Guantánamo is known in the US as Gitmo) the Abu Ghraib prison.

His beliefs of the battle between good and evil led to the Abu Ghraib scandel where guards ignored the geneva conventions concerning crimes against humanity ine the battle against "evil".

Just before Boykin was put in charge of the hunt for Osama bin Laden and then inserted into Iraqi prison reform, he was a circuit rider for the religious right. He allied himself with a small group called the Faith Force Multiplier that advocates applying military principles to evangelism. Its manifesto - Warrior Message - summons "warriors in this spiritual war for souls of this nation and the world ... "

Boykin staged a travelling slide show around the country where he displayed pictures of Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. "Satan wants to destroy this nation, he wants to destroy us as a nation, and he wants to destroy us as a Christian army," he preached. They "will only be defeated if we come against them in the name of Jesus". It was the reporting of his remarks at a revival meeting in Oregon that made them a subject of brief controversy.

There can be little doubt that he envisages the global war on terror as a crusade. With the Geneva conventions apparently suspended, international law is supplanted by biblical law. Boykin is in God's chain of command. President Bush, he told an Oregon congregation last June, is "a man who prays in the Oval Office". And the president, too, is on a divine mission. "George Bush was not elected by a majority of the voters in the US. He was appointed by God."

Boykin is not unique in his belief that Bush is God's anointed against evildoers. Before his 2000 campaign, Bush confided to a leader of the religious right: "I feel like God wants me to run for president ... I sense my country is going to need me. Something is going to happen."

I don't support abortion but people that do say it's the womens choice to have a baby or not. What about men? Why don't they get a say in this? If men don't want a baby why don't they get any input? They have to pay child support and stuff so shouldn't they get a little input? And what if the man wants to keep the baby and the women doesn't? He helped create the baby shouldn't he have choices?

what i want to know is why will God let u get to a point where u cant handle something anymore, although you have been asking God for help and trying hard. during my hard times i feel that god has dangled something promising in front of me only to take it away. i dont feel like i'm asking for much, but i do feel like i'm being toyed around with. how can i believe god cares when not only am i not getting help, it feels like things are getting worse.

Well I was thinking many people are upset because they've been told they may be going to hell. The thing is these people seem so concerned by something they don't believe in.

I have heard that some people believe it's in the center of the Earth -- but that's basically been ruled out since Seismologists and Geologists have discovered that the Earth's inner core is made up of solid nickel-iron alloy and some other stuff.

Hot or not, you really couldn't hang out there.

I have heard others say Hell is probably in another dimension.
