What do your youth group friends go to? Just curious. I don't like labeling people that way but how else are you suppose to classify it

I send my kid to a private school. Why? Because the public (government) schools are so crummy.

If the government schools were to do anything else (like how about teaching) other than trying to extract monies from the general public, or expelling kids for thinking about drawing a picture of a gun (or ---gasp---expelling them when they draw a picture of a knife/gun), then maybe I would sent my kid to a government indoctrination center. But until then, I hope that the school I send mine to, will offer a better opportunity at an edumacation than the local poorly rated, worst in the country, state sponsored, taxpayer funded education center that surrounds me.

If my kid went to the local school, he/she would board the bus at 7:00 am, ride for over an hour, then spend 7 hours in "thought control", board a hot, unairconditioned bus and ride back for an hour, get off the bus, start the daily routine of trying to sell the overpiced crap they sell so that they can have more money because the superintendent of schools makes over $100K in a district where the median income is about half that.

Or, I can be a good government citizen and send my kid to a private school (after I pay my taxes for a slot in the local school) for about $7K a year and know that I will not have to worry about some punk kid shanking him/her on the bus.

I might be considered "fundamentalist" by some, but I'm not. I love Jesus with all my heart and He has saved me, I also talk to others about Him all the time... (He is my favorite subject) But I do not preach, I inspire people about their connection to God. I don't attend school anymore, but my 8 yr old son attends public school. He enjoys it very much... I tried to homeschool him in Kindergarten, but there are not many people in our small community who do so... very few... so he felt more comfortable with public school. There are so many different kinds of friends to play with there and so many different activities! I cannot afford Christian school and for me that is fine. I cannot protect my son from the world forever, nor should I. He must learn what is pleasing to the Lord, while being IN the world. I want him to have challenges that he will encounter in the "real world" while God and I teach him the right way to deal with it.
