Well I was thinking many people are upset because they've been told they may be going to hell. The thing is these people seem so concerned by something they don't believe in.
So are they all really 100% certain in their belief there is nothing nasty waiting for them?

Let me ask you this:

How many atheists are "upset becauset they've been told they may be going to hell?"

Can you supply a verifiable number?

How many atheists are there?

Do you know?

What percentage of all atheists are upset because they were told they may be going to hell?

Unless you can supply some sort of valid statistics, I can only conclude that you are talking through your hat.

No I'm not afraid of dying or whats on the other

But I hope I don't die without any meaning.

I'd rather die for a cause.

I don't know whats on the other side and I don't care.

I don't trust any writing that describes the other side because those people have never really died.

I'll find out whats there when I get there.

I'm not afraid. True, I'd rather not have a slow and painful death, but then who does want that?

What does concern me however are the people who do preach endlessly about heaven and hell, and especially those who are eagerly awaiting the end of the world. I think these people may have serious mental problems that are indirectly affecting everyone else. That's what worries me, not the possibility that they may be right.

Everybody is afraid to die .Anybody that says otherwise is totally FOS.
I mean don't hear about a lot of religious people refusing treatment when they get diagnosed with a terminal illness . If they were so danged positive about where they're going they would refuse all treatment and get to their ultimate destination a lot faster.
As far as being told that I'm going to hell if I don't believe ,I remember what Lyndon Johnson once said about that " Never tell a man to go to hell unless you personally intend to send him there "

Death is inevitable - I don't fear something that's going to happen anyway - I live my life for the here and now, and immediate future, because you cannot predict the future and what it may being.

Death isn't something to fear - there's a whole lot worse out there to be afraid of.

For me, blindness would be a worse thing than death- by a long shot.

I'm 100% certain that even if there is a god who makes me face my life, that I've done the best I can to be the best person I can. What's to fear about having to face yourself?

I think anyone who is not somewhat confident there will be an afterlife, and that there is a real possibility that they will be held accountable for their actions, judged according to their deeds, and eternally end up in either Heaven or Hell...etc, will most likely be afraid to die!!

It's the fear of the unknown which causes this...

I am anxious to put off dying for as long as possible, but I'm resigned to the knowledge that I will and I have no desire to continue afterwards in some other form.

I am certain that there is something nasty waiting for me too. It is called not being alive any more. Being dead, it won't bother my obliviated consciousness, but it's definitely a lot better being alive.

Actually, no one knows what will happen after death. Christians like to CLAIM that they have salvation, but TRUTH is no one knows until 'Judgement Day' when ya get 'rubber stamped. Which is just Bearing False Witness, a sin if ALL the covanents within the bible.

According to 1 JOHN, those that sin are not ONE with GOD
1 John 3:9 No one born of God commits sin; for God's Nature abides in him, and he cannot sin because he is born of God

Even "Jesus' said that being a follower of his don't get you a 'get out of hell free card"
Mat 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you sinners!

The truth is NO MAN, no book, no religion can say who is going to hell nor heaven---that is ONLY the job of the SPIRIT on 'judgment day'.

One can HOPE that they are on the 'right' path for them. Any claim of having 'grace' before the 'day of judgement' is just chasing the wind.

If we are scared its usually because the idea of eternal damnation was spoon fed to us at an early age so letting go if that idea takes a little bit longer. Fear is a powerful tool.

I'm not afraid to die. I am afraid of the pain leading to death. Some atheists get angry at the "you're going to hell" thing because it shows how much we are disliked.
