None of these are contradictions. You dont know what you are talking about, and you obviously have not read the Bible with even a tiny bit of understanding.

God is good but he will punish the wicked..

Exodus 34:6-7 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

He is a God of both war and peace demonstrated by your very verses.

God was the father of Jesus. Joseph was Mary's husband . Obviously Heli and Jacob are the same man. This is not a contradiction. For instance your name could be Jacob Heli Phate. I would not be wrong calling you Jacob or Heli or Phate. You can try all day but will never prove the Bible wrong on anything. Many have tried but only end up looking foolish. Come to Christ.

You people insist how intelligent you are, yet you fail to see, that you are taking the Bible out of context. First of all, you must understand the NATURE of God to understand Scripture. God is both. He is a God of peace, and a God of War. A God of Love, and a God of Wrath.
When Jesus was on the earth, He was peaceful and submissive. When He returns He will be the Lion of Judah. He will have fire in His eyes, and will render His judgment on the earth.
God does not say everyone are His children. He calls some (like the Pharisees) the children of the devil.
"For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness, Nor shall evil dwell with You.
The boastful shall not stand in Your sight;
You HATE all doers of iniquity.
You shall destroy those who speak falsehood; the Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man." Psalm 5:4-6

"But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name be joyful in You.
For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with FAVOR You will surround him as with a shield." Psalm 5:11-12

Those devoid of spiritual insight will always see contradiction in the bible. It's easier on them than actually having to do any kind of study or research.

Here you go. Since you like to take scripture out of context for your own easing of conscience, let us go to Psalm 14:1

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

If we take the second portion of this scripture out of context:

There is no God.

Now, you're done. Feel better?

When the average intelligence rates at barely 20 points above "retardation," you can pretty much answer WHY. All us as human beings are selective in what we accept or don't and most of the religious can read something 50 times and STILL not comprehend what is written. Those of us who go "into" the world to seek truth from amongst it know what is contradiction or untruth where these kind do not because they have been selective in only immersing themselves in one ideology. Believe it or not COMPLACENCY is what keeps many ignornant.....Psychology calls it "closed minded." In the world it is just
called "stubborn."

Having 'errors' within their 'inspired word' causes heresy (free thinking). This is part of the Orthodoxy of the religion (making the path straight). Christians really don't like exceptions to the rules, they just want their 'absolutes' its easy for the SELF righteousness. A Clear we. v. Them mentality.

Hheheee if you are supposed to be superior ya need someone to demean.

One reason for the 'contradictions' or 'errors' within the scriptures is that they aren't from the same traditions/sect/religion.

Hhehee if ya want some MORE interesting tid bits in the bible, try reading OT hosea and Habakuk...

In hosea and Habakkuk, we learn of the 'sons of ephraim'--the Canaanites, they venerated a stick of wood, offered up human sacrifice upon high places--like MT Calvary, used human sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin, and relished in their sin, just as Christians do. One should also note that ephraim was the son of joseph born in the city of bethal, also called the right hand...

Hab 2:16 the cup from the Lord’s right hand is coming around to you, and disgrace will cover your glory.

What you are doing is taking selected verses out of context. I used to do the same when I was an atheist. The Bible doesn't work that way. You have to understand the who context of each section. And deep down, you know that's the case. You could do the same kind of snipping from politicians speaches and find a sentance from one place that seems to contradict a sentance from another place. For example. Is God a God of peace or war? The answer is YES. He is both a God of peace and war. Bringing peace to all who are true to him and destroying all that are a cancer and who fight against him and his.

This book was written over hundreds of years by about 20 people, I think they did a pretty damned good job containing all the information considering that. Can you name another book that can say that?
There are no contradictions, only when you read out of context.

I am a Christian and am in a Bible study.
The Bible is full of contradictions.
Anyone that read it and understands it would know that.
I think some of them need to find someone who can help them interpret it.

Actually, your bad is assuming that all Christians hold that there are no contradictions in the bible. They do not.
