I get the feeling that most of the atheists on this website are not really serious about anything they say. I think that most of the insults they come up with are just to get a quick laugh by pissing off all the fundamentalist Christians on this website, and that they really don't mean most of what they say. I also get the feeling that every Christian on this website is dead serious with everything they say and ask. Does anyone else think I am right????

To me, your question sounded serious right here, and the way you put things, whether meaning to poke at a Christian or not, can be seen as offensive. I try to be as unoffensive as possible, but it's all in the combination of how things are presented and how they are considered. In this post, if I wanted to jump down your throat, I'd criticize you for more harshly stereotyping Christians than Atheists, but I don't think that was your point. Just so you know, I have a rather good sense of humor (if you care to look at all my best answers, some of them have something entertaining about them).

it is very trying to a person's spirit to read questions like this countless times again on the R/S section.
it is hard because you know that people like this are in a wonderland in their own mind, created by their will to believe, yet you know that telling them this is only going to drive them further and further to the extreme, making them feel emboldened
hmmm....atheist, you say? well that is interesting.
you should stick around the site more, because you are way off. most skeptic are serious, it's just that some skeptic's rhetorical abilities are not exactly keen, and it leaves many skeptics with the only option of just deriding christians who present silly arguments.

Christians might be dead serious but that doesn't mean they're right. Atheists have a sense of humor, but we're also serious. It's called expanding one's horizons and being able to see things from more than one angle.

I am a Christian presently; but I can see why 'Christians' are percieved as illogical as even some of their 'illogic' is taught to kids presently (and past) here in USA. As for the 'expression' 'Does anyone else else think I am right'; I do not recall using it here in the past.

Christian here. I'm serious when there is call and not when there isn't. Some people just take the serious as a joke and the joke as serious.

I don't find very much that the Theists say on this site remotely funny. Sad, and at times ridiculously ignorant, but not funny. The tone of my response is based on the level of sanity in the question.

I can see both sides...... but , yes, we Christians are serious about God....... I have NO problem with a few jokes here and there about it, and even some of the questions are done with respect..... the ONLY ones I have problems with are the *kiddies* who come on here and *think* it just so hilarious to make blatant, disrespectful , hideous, disgusting jokes using God and Jesus......... IT AINT FUNNY !!!!!!! or maybe just not to me........ I am coming to terms with the *lets blame the Christian * , it just, in my humble opinion, makes them feel better about them selves..... I agree with your statement, I almost never take Yahoo! Answers serious. But keep in my mind I don't speak for all Atheists.

I have no clue. Half the time I'm having trouble figuring out who is even being sincere, who is a troll or who is asking genuine questions and who is just joking around. I give up.
