For me, this was when my friend, Susan Shilts, died from brain cancer on October 15th, 2006. She had found out the previous 3 months and was given a year, but succumbed quickly. She was about 60 and was my mentor growing up, and taught me that anger is not something good to hang onto and should always be forgiven and forgotten. Brain Cancer has been studied, but not so much that there is a ribbon for its awareness. As a result of her passing, I started to start buying things that contributed to charities and research, even if they cost more. Breast cancer, Heart Disease, AIDS, and whatever else I can. It's made me aware of how precious life is, and how much we should value those close to us because we never know when they are going to be gone. Has anything shaken you to your spirit that made you work for the better?
