The thing about religion is that it is ALWAYS subjective. It's all in how you interpret it, and decide to make it mean what you want it to mean. Unfortunately, most religions tend to claim to have the "one" way to believe. It's the most arrogant thing I can think of to say that one group of people can hold all the answers. No one can "own" the truth.
However, the one group I have the most respect for is the Universalist Unitarians. They accept all beliefs as valid, and try to enhance their spiritual growth by learning from all beliefs and paths.
It reminds me of the story of the blind men and the elephant. 3 blind men were walking through the jungle when they came upon an elephant. The one at the back of it felt the elephant's tail, and said "it's a rope!". The second felt the elephant's leg and said "it's a tree!" and the third blind man felt the long flexible trunk and exclaimed "no, it's a snake!" All were deducing what they could from the evidence at hand, but none of them knew everything.

If Christianity makes you happy, then read the bible. Many larger churches will have separate bible study groups that you can attend at someone's house during the week. You don't need to go to church (most of the time) to attend one of the study groups. Check the web sites of the larger churches in your area, they're usually listed there.
Like you, I disagree with most modern Christian theology; that's why I don't go to church anymore.
Good luck!!

The miracles were part and parcel of Jesus teachings, and he was born of a virgin.
To disregard them is sort of missing the point I think.
Although I kind of think I know what you mean, more of Jesus as philosopher than saviour?

Read Your Bible.
You will get it.
Don't worry about what others are teaching.
Let the Holy Spirit teach YOU !
However, the Holy Spirit is not going to teach you about the teachings of Jesus and leave out His miracle birth and His miracles.
Jesus performed miracles to prove WHO He was.
The miracle birth of Jesus proved WHO God is.
God Bless You in Your Search for the Truth.

If you read the gospels it's difficult to separate Jesus's teachings with his miracles. I have free study guides on gospels and such at http://www.bcbsr.com/books/sgbs.html

I look at it the same way and consider myself an atheist
who takes the good of religions and tries to make sense of it . perhaps Einstein said it best when he said ;
True religion is real living; living with all one's soul, with all one's goodness and righteousness.

I haven't found one. Though, I'd suggest you get Jefferson's Bible... Thomas Jefferson made his own bible and left out much of the miracles, etc...
