I admit that I was being insensitive and unsympathetic and foolish to the world around me, but I have made the unintended offensive joke and I feel bad about it. What should I do, to make it up? Is she just trying to pick a fight? What's the least I could do to make it up to her?

this question is for all those who seem to believe that atheists can't have any meaning in their lives since they don't believe in a higher power. would your life cease to have meaning if you found out tomorrow there isn't a god? would you kill yourself? or would you still look for meaning? please, don't bother answering if your going to be so closeminded as to say nothing can convince that there isn't a god.

The bible isint supposed to be the only source of truth is it. tradition is equal to the bible.

The idea that all revealed truth is to be found in "66 books" is not only not in Scripture, it is contradicted by Scripture
(1 Corinthians 11:2, 2 Thessalonians 2:15, 2 Thessalonians 3:6, 1 Timothy 3:15, 2 Peter 1:20-21, 2 Peter 3:16). It is a concept unheard of in the Old Testament, where the authority of those who sat on the Chair of Moses (Matthew 23:2-3) existed. In addition to this, for 400 years, there was no defined canon of "Sacred Scripture" aside from the Old Testament; there was no "New Testament"; there was only Tradition and non-canonical books and letters.

What is the purpose of prayer?

I'm not asking why you (or someone else) might be in need and why you might desire divine intervention. But if God is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent as many religions claim, why do you need to take an action (prayer) to request God's intervention? What is it about the act of prayer itself that you believe grants you a better chance at catching "God's ear" than otherwise?

For prayer! For all fellow christians out there to just lift up a prayer sometime today or this week for me and my family--God knows what is going on, and I just would truly appreciate more prayer! There is definately spiritual warfare going on in my home and I really need some good solid powerful prayer! I never give up on prayer, for I know that God hears the prayers of those who love Him.....as He says:
James 5:16
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
-Thank you so much!

My Mother in Law passed away suddenly on 7-15-07. My husband and I are trying our best to come up with some type of inspirational message to have engraved on the headstone. I have seen one that goes something like"Don't weep for me..........." something along those lines. In other words the message is basically from the deceased asking those who visit her grave not to mourn but to be happy for her because she is at peace and no longer in any pain. Can anyone think of something along the lines of that. The marker has to be the inground, flat granite or bronze so my space is limited, I think a single headmarker is aprroximately 2foot by 2 foot and you can add about 6 inches to the length and width, but it still isn't like the headstones that are above ground, they have lots more room. Unfortunately, her grave plot in in a section of the cemetary that requires the flat inground headstones only. Appreciate any help!
Christy

Anti-Catholics may object to the interpretation of these passages but they cannot honestly say that there is no Biblical support for the claims of the Catholic Church:The reason we should believe in purgatory:
Baptized for the dead. (1 Cor 15:29)
The reason we should believe in praying to the Saints who are in heaven:
The prayers of the saints. (Rev 5:8)
Note that these saints are in heaven.
Can anyoue give me some reason we shouldn't believe?

Why do people always say go is a man, and what is wrong with the idea that god could be a woman. Surly the idea that god is a woman is just a valid as god is a man.

Christians believe in Mary, why cant she be a Goddess after all if you believe in that she gave birth to god, so must have been of godly origin thus making her a goddess and as Jesus is a man and he is god, thus then follows that Mary been a Goddess since she gave birth to Jesus who is God means that Christianity in fact has both male and female deities.

Christians also believe in the “devil” which is another deity (been the ruler of the underworld)

So following this we see that in fact Christianity, and Christians, believe in many deities and do not just believe in “One God the Father”

As such Christianity is just another form of Paganism

So what is wrong with following that logic

Her dad was a Southern Baptist minister, she's very devout. She considers me to be her only "good" grandaughter. The others either drink too much, smoke too much, have children outside of marriage, are too promiscuous, or is a lesbian. While this has it's percks it gets quite frustrating sometimes when she goes on one of her preaching tirades, and I just want to yell, "Gramma, I'm an atheist!!!" But I'm afraid, (ignoring the fact that she may not consider me the "good" one any more), that she just might keel over from a massive heart attack. Any suggestions. All are welcome, the more clever the better. Thanks.

If God DIDN'T create gay humans then why DID he create other animals that are gay....... God didn't give other animals free will so he must have made them gay. Gay animals, with out the free will to choose, are all over this earth. Think about that!!!!!!!!!!!! If your going to say that yes he did give them free will, then will they go to heaven? Do they have to be baptized and accept Jesus as well, and if so how and when has this ever been accomplished???

How can this be justified??

I'm grading the answers to questions I asked back when a ten-year-old child was being recruited by self-proclaimed "christians".

I can't help but wonder just how difficult it is for christians to recruit others that they can't wait for a child so young to grow up and become an adult before they try preaching to her.

And to do it behind her parents' backs ...

Now I'd like to believe real Christians wouldn't do that.

But if it were their ten-year-old child who had wandered on here asking about Satanic cults, would they be pleased if the Satanists started encouraging their child into private chat rooms?

(o.O)

Obviously it doesn't occur to them to treat other people's children the way they'd want their children treated.

Why would any so-called christian feel it is their duty or right to teach a ten-year-old to disrespect and distrust the child's parents?

Do christians not have enough trouble without trying to start a war with the parents of other faiths now?

there are a few of you out there (and you know who you are)
that will preach and and try to get people like me to convert but as soon as it becomes apparent that we arn't going to see things your way you become rude, insulting, and down right abusive.
why?
do i...we not still have the freedom of choice?
why must you call us names and insult us for choosing a path that is not yours?

***notice***
i said there were a few of you out there.
most of the people i have encountered are kind and respectful of my views and beliefs ...but it is the few that are giving all a bad name.
