Why do people always say go is a man, and what is wrong with the idea that god could be a woman. Surly the idea that god is a woman is just a valid as god is a man.

Christians believe in Mary, why cant she be a Goddess after all if you believe in that she gave birth to god, so must have been of godly origin thus making her a goddess and as Jesus is a man and he is god, thus then follows that Mary been a Goddess since she gave birth to Jesus who is God means that Christianity in fact has both male and female deities.

Christians also believe in the “devil” which is another deity (been the ruler of the underworld)

So following this we see that in fact Christianity, and Christians, believe in many deities and do not just believe in “One God the Father”

As such Christianity is just another form of Paganism

So what is wrong with following that logic

Paganism encompasses a diverse community with some groups concentrating on specific traditions, practices or elements such as ecology, witchcraft, Celtic traditions or certain gods/goddess's..

Wiccans, Druids, Shamans, Sacred Ecologists, Odinists and Heathens all make up parts of the Pagan community.

If You don't believe in God as Christians see him, then Your God isn't the 'RIGHT' God. You are being fooled by the Devil! You are a PAGAN!

Christians can't even agree with each other as to whether God is Singular or The Trilogy of Father, Son and Spirit. or whether Mary is important beyond being The Son's human mother!

Logically you could say that Christianity is a form of 'Abrahamism' Alonside Muslim and Judaeism. They worship the God he worshipped, the Big Guy who created EVERYTHING! Why Abraham and those before decided their deity was Male probably stems from the fact the Holy Books were written mainly by them, and the priesthood were men.

Yikes! Where to start?
People generally say that "God" is a man because the monotheistic God is described in male terminology in the associated religions. THAT is because in all of the cultures those religions developed in, male were considered superior. It would have been illogical to think of an omnipotent being as female.

That, however, is partly semantics. Many Christian and Jewish theologians have argued for centuries that God is beyond gender, because he is everything. But they still use male language because it makes more sense to them. (I don't know about Islamic thought on the topic)

You ask why can't Mary be a god. Why should she be? Either she was or she wasn't. It's not a subjective thing. And in the religious texts that dfescribe her, she is always depicted as mortal. She doesn't suddenly become a goddess because it sounds cool. Christian theology is also heavily based on the fact that hse is mortal. If she was not mortal, then Jesus would not be part mortal and could not be the bridge between God and man.

The Devil is most definitely not a deity.
Just being in charge of part of the afterlife does not suddenly make you a deity. He is a servant of God or a fallen servant of God, depending on who you ask.

The only way that Christians believe in multiple deities is if we suddenly reclassify several people according to your whim. Can I play too? I think Jesus was really a carrot. Thus, Christians clearly worship vegetables. It's obvious!

"Paganism" means non-Christian religion. So Christianity is most certainly not a form of Paganism.

That's what's wrong with your logic. You're just redefining and reclassifying things willy nilly and then act surprised when others don't agree.

Hi!

Ive mentioned this one, on one of my questions!

I asked, how do you know there is only 'one' god & how do you know that it is male?
I recieved abusive answers to both!

The facts are:

Ancient man believed in many gods, some male, some female.
When the exodus occured, they took the idea from pharoah Akenaton of Egypt, of a single god, that you couldnt see.

Surprisingly, evidence found in the early settlements of the 'israelites' show, alters for 'two' dieties!
A male, we presume was yahweh, the other for his 'female' companion!
It seems that this 'new' religion, was not ready for a singular god!!
After time, it 'came to pass' that there was only one supreme creator of everything, universe and all!

Obviously, the bible and all the other religious books, have evolved from earlier texts, from many religions.
These ancient religions and the religions of today, have no idea about what created the universe.

This is because, the texts they read, are written by man and 'not' through any divine authorship or diety.

It was all guesswork!!

Another point:
I have read answers here stating that Mary, Jesus etc, arent classed as dieties?
Well, you wouldnt think that, when you see statues of them being decorated and put in processions, carried through the city!!

It all seems to me, that christianity, is still very much like paganism!!

well god is neither a man or women he is a spirit. Mary is not a goddess or the simple fact that Jesus is not god. he is the son of god. this is prove when Jesus was on earth and said i do the will of him who sent me. well if Jesus is god why didn't he just say i do the will of my own. i believe you are getting confused with the word itself, "god". anything or anyone can be made out of a god. money, fame, devil or anything that a person may worship can be the form of a god. but there is only one god and he has a name that no other god has or has had. i hope this helps you.

Man I have answered this question alot here. God is a genderless God. He made man in His own image meaning MANKIND.
The only reason He is called Father and He is because Adam came before Eve and Eve came from Adam's rib. Had Eve come first we would be saying She and Mother.

Mary was nothing more than a virgin human woman that God chose to give birth to Jesus. She is not, never has been a goddess. Any religion that raises her to god like status is off base.

Your logic is very flawed.

No it's not. God's word is in the bible/torah/qu-ran depending on your religion, in all three books God identifies himself as a male, lord etc, always using the male perjorative. In Genesis, God creates Adam out of some dirt and his own image, he creates Eve out of Adam's rib.

The holy spirit is God's female expression, in scriptures, when one knows some greek and hebrew you can see that the holy spirit is always identified as 'feminine' (she, her etc). So the Holy spirit is the feminine expression of God and God is the male. You will have to take his own words for it.

The devil is not considered a deity, God created the devil, and Mary is not a mother, check your graeco-roman religions, When Gods impregnate women, this does not make the woman a goddess, she remains a human. Although catholics said later on that she ascended which extends to her demigod powers like Jesus- but christians don't see it this way because they are not allowed to believe in demigods. Catholicism turned Mary from being a human who had jesus as her son into a divine 'perpetual virgin' basically, a catholic mans interpretation of the perfect woman, a perpetual virgin and mother and demonised Mary Magdalene who was an outspoken strong woman, they turned her into a prostitute.

God said let us make man in our image. That other being was Jesus Christ, as he was with God in the beginning of creation. As they are of the male persuasion I would say there is no female involved here.

As Adam and Eve were created, they were not born, a female was not needed.

Satan is the ruler of the earth not the underworld. We are living in his system of things now. That will change when Jesus puts him into the abyss for 1,000 years.

Jesus was very explicit when he said the head of the woman is a man, the head of the man is the Christ and the head of the Christ is God. Women, according to Jesus Christ should not be the head of any church. God did not change this, man did.

God is an Eternal Infinite Spirit and "Uncaused Cause"Creator and is not male or female, yet both male and female humans are made in His Image(Gen1&2)

He/Him/His is not only the masculine form in Standard English but also the common singular form(not they/them/their)

Mary, saints ,angels and devils are not "gods" in Christianity which is strictly monotheist (One and Only One God). Angel and devils are spirits also without bodies like God but they are creatures with greater mind and other powers than human" rational/emotive spirit

Christianity does believe that God the Word/Son became incarnate as a male Jew. As there is only one substance, essence and being (and nature)of God there can be only one human incarnation of God with full human substance, essence and being(and nature) as one Person,Jesus. The father and Spirit as persons do not incarnate.

Biblical God-inspired language calls the persons of God, Father Son and Holy Spirit(Matt 28 and in many other places) and we cannot change that if we believe in biblical and apostolic authority. There are feminine images of God(hen) or mother(Isaiah 6:10-14) in the Bible but Father/mother and Daughter/Son titles and"hypostatic concepts" images for the persons of God are Gnostic and not Nicene orthodox Christian.

Hi jason146558. You've asked several questions. First, God is always referred to in the masculine tense, He is never referred to in the femininit tense. So, yes He is a Male.

Mary did not give birth to God. Mary gave birth to Jesus who was God. God created Mary. Mary was a sinner just like you and me. God tells us Mary was a sinner and made a sin offering in Luke 2:22-24:

"22And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord; 23(As it is written in the law of the LORD, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;) 24And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons."

No where in the God's Holy Word, the Bible is Satan referred to as a deity. The only deity in Christianity is God Almighty Himself, who was Jesus Christ in the flesh.

Have you heard of Jesus? He spoke a lot on the ideas that you are asking about. I think you should read his comments. There are revolutionary ideas that break away from the Earth worship you are describing. You are describing what Christians call the religion of the Whore of Babylon. You should be careful in examination of these ideas and not fall prey to the prevailing thoughts of the times, but rather seek the truth.
