Everything in our Catechism is backed up by the Bible.
Us Christians are still paying the price of some of our bad forefathers who caused the split in 1600.
Peace be with us all!

1Co 15:29 Otherwise, what will they do, those being baptized on behalf of the dead? If the dead are not at all raised, why indeed are they baptized on behalf of the dead?
I was a catholic and never once was it taught that people should be baptized for the dead, I believe that is a Mormon practice. There are several interpretations of what Paul was speaking of. Some think he was addressing the Jews who engaged in ceremonial washing after touching a dead body. Baptism is simply an outward act showing an inward change, nothing more. The only place where catholics can remotely draw the idea of purgatory from is the book of Macabbees. The idea of purgatory goes against the Biblical belief that Christ's sacrifice was totally sufficient for the forgiveness of the sins of the believers. By believing that one needs to be "purged" of sin, says that Christ's work was insufficient and incomplete.
Rev 5:8 And when He took the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one having harps, and golden bowls full of incenses, which are the prayers of the saints.
The saints are all believers in Christ, that is the Biblical term for saints. They are not special people given that title by the Vatican. I can sight many verses in Scripture where believers on earth are called saints. It is unclear who is referred to as "living creatures" in vs, 11, could be those in Christ who have died. But the prayers of the saints refers to all the saints, or believers in Christ.

Well.....This Is Exactly Why the Catholic church is a Cult. U see, they Try to "Bypass" Scripture teaching like the Doctrine of the Un-Pardonable Sin (I Cor. 15:29) Or "Twist" Scripture like Rev. 5:8. to meet Their Wicked & Evil needs!!!
DOCTRINE OF THE UNPARDONABLE SIN
A. This is the one sin Jesus Christ could not and did not die for on the cross, Jn 3:18, 36. This sin is the rejection of Christ and His work on the cross.
B. This sin is related to the convicting ministry of the Holy Spirit, Gen 6:3; Jn 16:7-11; Heb 10:29.
C. Rejection of Christ is called "sin," Jn 16:9.
D. Synonyms for the unpardonable sin.
1. The willful sin, Heb 10:26.
2. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, Mt 12:31.
3. Resistance of the Holy Spirit, Acts 7:51.
4. Insulting the Holy Spirit, Heb 10:29.
E. Those who are under the unpardonable sin consider the Gospel foolishness, 1 Cor 1:18, 2:14.
F. This sin is characterized by strong delusion, 2 Thes 2:11-12.
G. This sin has its own reversionism, 2 Pet 2:19-22.
The Only Sin which Keeps one from going to Heaven is clearly Not Accepting Christ!!! So for Centuries the Catholics have gotten Rich "Praying" those that They Deem to be in "Purgatory" (really "Torments" in Sheol), into Heaven!!! How Insensitive towards the Departed's Family in their time of Grief by Charging $$$ for "Prayer" (Black Mail?)!!! So like where do they get the "Authority & Power" to be able to "Save" a person from Hell after they are Dead??? Yeah, I know, the Popes declared themselves "God on Earth" starting with "Innocent III" and Continuing to Today, Big Deal!!! If I was that Arrogant & Twisted with Power Lust, I too could claim that!!! Then this Current Papa now Overrules the Previous Papas who were supposed to be "Infallible" by saying there is no "Limbo", Give me a Break!!!
Now in Rev. 5:8, we see a Vision of Heaven where the 24 elders each have a Harp & a Golden Bowl that is Full & "Sweet Smelling" (as Incense offered to God) which are Really the "PRAYERS OF THE SAINTS" (Commonly Called Believers), NOT PRAYERS FOR OR TO ANY (church Declared) SAINTS!!!
Look, Satan is called the "Man of Perdition" a "Lier", the "Author of Lies" etc. & he Uses "Religion" such as the Catholic church, to Deceive Mankind, it's his M.O., always has been!!! the Audacity of the church to claim (& recently reiterated by Papa) that they were founded by Christ Authorizing Peter (the rock) to create the Catholic church!!! Heresy pure & simple!!! Christ has Always been called "The Rock" & O'l Pete was NEVER referred to that way!!! Peter was Never even in Rome!!! Please tell me where in Scripture Christ even Discusses building any church??? While Ur at it, tell me where Christ makes "Saints" as the Catholics have done??? Where does Christ tell us to Pray to Anyone BUT GOD the Father??? Where does Christ give Us the Catholic "Hail Marry" prayer??? These are just a few of the FALSE TEACHINGS OF THE CATHOLIC church!!! Hope these Reasons make sense for U??? John

Show me one thing in the Catholic Mass that is not based in the bible. Remember it was the protestant reformers who said that the 6 books of the bible that Catholic's accept are not biblical. But the Catholic Church has always held them to be so. The reformer invented their doctrines and then excluded real scripture to support thier points by omission.
Those 6 books were written under the influence of the Holy Spirit by the jews of the diaspora. Who ever said the the bible had to be written in Palestine? Where is that a rule?
The book of Maccabees talks about praying for the souls.

True. The Roman Catholic Church contends that its origin is the death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ in approximately 30 A.D. The Catholic Church proclaims itself to be the Church that Jesus Christ died for, the Church that was established and built by the Apostles. Is that the true origin of the Catholic Church? On the contrary. Even a cursory reading of the New Testament will reveal that the Catholic Church does not have its origin in the teachings of Jesus, or His apostles. In the New Testament, there is no mention of the papacy, worship / adoration of Mary (or the immaculate conception of Mary, the perpetual virginity of Mary, the assumption of Mary, or Mary as co-redemptrix and mediatrix), petitioning saints in Heaven for their prayers, apostolic succession, the ordinances of the church functioning as sacraments, infant baptism, confession of sin to a priest, purgatory, indulgences, or the equal authority of church tradition and Scripture.

When I answer a question, my objective is not for anyone to feel offended, but to encourage people to open their Bible and verify the truths for themselves. Disagreeing with some of the Catholic doctrines does not make you anti-Catholic. You can dislike an organization and love the people in it.(example:I love Russians but I don't like their government)
God is all love and God does not condone any kind of hatred for one another. That sentiment would not help you or encourage anyone to seek the God's truth of salvation.
The only way to learn from the Bible is to study the Bible in depth for ourselves.Job 23:12 says that it is more important than food.Acts 17:11/2Peter3:16 Search the scriptures daily. Compairing verse with verse, and if I encounter any shred of evidence that my Religion differs in any way from what the Bible teaches; then maybe, I'm in the wrong Religion.John 7:17/Luke 11:13 encourage to: "ask The Lord to make sure the Holy Spirit leads you in reading the Bible. And to do His will and you will know if the doctrine is good"
The Bible teaches that our Lord will return soon. The final conflict will focus on the question of loyalty. God will not focus on what denomination you belong to, He only wants you to be saved.
Let your alliegance be to Jesus Christ, not to a Religion.
Now, in response to the verses you gave:
*Baptism-symbolizes the acknowledgment of Christ as Lord and savior, repenting and the forgiveness of sins and receiving the Holy Spirit.Acts 2:38/Luke 3:21/Acts 8:38 In order to understand the Bible, we must read the entire chapter, not just half the verse. Since babies and the dead cannot repent, we know they cannot be baptized.
*The Saints- are those who are alive, here on earth, who will be saved when Christ returns. Remember the book of Revelation is prophetic. The only humans who are in heaven are Enoch, Elijah, Moses, and those who resurrected with Jesus. I encourage you to do the research. Don't forget:Commandment II - thou shall not make into thee any graven immage

First of all, you're assuming that anyone who disagrees with you is "anti-Catholic", and that's unfair. Just because someone doesn't agree with your beliefs doesn't mean they hate or oppose you or want to tear down the entire institution of the Catholic Church. Questioning a doctrine is a time-honored way of testing its strength and validity.
Of course there is Biblical support for the claims and doctrines of the Catholic Church. The issue is that this "evidence" is not absolute - it is up for interpretation. Protestants may choose to interpret these passages one way; Catholics may choose another; non-Christians or atheists may choose any number of other interpretations. Even within each group, there may exist differences of opinion.
You are fully entitled to believe whatever you feel is true and logical; but you have to allow that other people have the right to interpret things differently, and believe whatever they feel is true and logical based on their perspective.

Personally I just ignore them. They think Holy Scripture is a do-it-yourself kit. Catholics are 75% of all Christians and we are therefore the main body purely in demographic terms,so we don't even need to invoke doctrines such as the Church being the Body of Christ or the concept of disciplic succession. We are the centerpiece; it's de jure for us but - at the least - a de facto reality for everyone else, including atheists,at least if they are educated. Fundies have no influence anyway. They just make good copy so they have an exaggerated profile in the press. Don't worry about them. They're a fringe element,an embarassment to all,and that's all they'll ever be.

ok so by the baptism for the dead in it's context he is saying there would be no point in being baptized for Christ if he was not resurrected...
as far as praying to the saints... those prayers are of the saints here on earth they are being poured out in heaven before the throne of God.. nothing to do with praying to the saints... besides why would you pray to a person when you can pray to God directly?

catholics dont baptize the dead so I dont what that has to do with anything - ps scolars are still unsure what Paul meant when he wrote that
prayers of the saints - sorry but there were no Saints, as we define that word, in the days of the first century - when the word saints is used in the Bible it means believers - anyone who was a believer in Christ and followed Him was a saint - so in Biblical terms all people today that are followers of Christ are saints - so in Rev 5:8 those are all of our prayers that are being offered up

Speaking of Catholic Doctrines, have you read the one on war?
Does not support either war we are in, yet I have recieved many letters of support the war from my diocese.
They tell me who to vote for.
Ask for the sign of peace and upon mass conclusion ask that I go in Peace to Love and Serve the Lord.
I don't feel that is consistent in practice nor am I comfortable with it.
I believe in God though.
Man? Not so much.
