I guess, it's about nature.
Trees grow, birds fly, rocks are rocks, that kind of thing.
Our Nature could be considered from many perspectives.
From a physical/ instinctual perspective, it would be the 4 'F's:
Feeding, fighting, fleeing, *ucking.

From a social, psychological perspective, it would be the need for relationship, to be somebody in a community. to have an individual identity.

I consider there to be higher levels of existence, up to the the level of the ABSOLUTE.
In those levels, I guess the Universal aspects of us extend towards expression.
The spirutual diminsion which is LOVE seeks to be recognised and expressed through us.
Also, BEAUTY, TRUTH, MAGNIFICENCE, PURITY, UNITY.
All of these spiritual aspects of our true nature will underlie our motivation.
I'd like to find a partner, part of that could be about s*x, but it is also about finding a beauty in my partner, which is a reflection of my own and everybody elses spiritual nature.

So it's lots of things really, I would say.

Edit: Did I mention money.

Motivating Force differs at different stages in Life.It also depends upon the situation sometimes. Some times it is Love and affection. Sometimes it is SEX and when you become mature it is the faith and religion which mainly motivates you. It depends upon your surroundings, upbringing etc. ONE factor cannot be attributed to the motivating Force. Sometime even your ego also can motivate you to do certain things.

Figuring out the wonder of existence with my other brothers and sisters here on earth, but not cheapening quest by giving up and claiming the questions have already been answered by religion or supernatural beings like God.

It's odd. Your question has thrown me a bit. I've been sitting here thinking about my life...it's a good life. Home, pets, husband and yet, I do not feel motivated at all. Weird.

I used to be a big time 'seeker' and was hugely motivated to find god/answers and all that. Now, I seem to live from moment to moment...just being. Motivation doesn't seem to play much of a part anymore.

I like being here with ya'll...is that motivation, of sorts? =)

Pure Mystical Philosophy. Inner enquiry whenever possible and deep meditation. otherwise a common man.

2007-07-26 18:35:08 · answer #10 · answered by Anonymous · 1 0

it's mystical. When I have processed all of my
crap, all of my stashed bad feelings, when I'm
'clear' as they say, in those moments inspiration
comes from just being alive, there's no 'object'
or outside goal that motivates. But to answer
more directly, I'd have to say that what really
gets me going is someone wanting my help
with spiritual matters.
