First, I have 2 basic premises.

1.) God, The Creator, is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent. He existed before all else and is eternal.

2.) Jesus is God -- whether you believe in the trinity or a mere duality, Jesus and God are one in the same. Or perhaps you believe God and Jesus are equivalent but not identical (this is a less common belief).

Based on the above, God took human form by impregnating the virgin, Mary, with the Holy Spirit and was born by her. He was destined to grow up and be The Christ, Jesus.

As Jesus, God performed many miracles and fulfilled the prophesies of Jewish scripture. This culminated in his crucifixion, burial and resurrection. This "sacrifice" was for the express purpose of redeeming mankind from sin.

Here's the crux of the question.

If God took human form, followed his own plan, died and "resurrected himself" -- where's the risk, the loss, the suffering, the humanity? HE'S GOD TO BEGIN WITH! The end was never in question. No sacrifice.

"And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly." (Matthew 6:5-6)

Now, I'm not wondering how you justify church as a teaching institution - Jesus himself attended the synagogue after all, but what I am wondering is how my Christian friends integrate this quotation into their understanding of what church is supposed to be.

It seems to me that the quotation is an argument against the church as a worshipping community. There are, of course, quotations that do discuss communal worship. How ought we understand this quote in light of those and Christian practice since Jesus?

Are there things that Jews have done to provoke this hatred?
segregation?
success?
the professions they worked in (banking, ursury)?
any other reasons?

Is it purely down the the people persecuting them?
does christianity/islam teach that the jews are evil?
jealousy?
non-jews are pure evil?
any other reasons?

Or is it maybe a mixture of the 2?

Is there anything we can learn from the past that both Jews and non-jews can do to try and prevent a resurgence of anti-semitism?

I was just wondering how people view themselves in comparison to where their family began. For example, I am of Irish decent and I can easily trace my family back to Ireland. I personally feel I have a lot of charector traits that support me being of Irish decent even though I am American born and raised. What do you think? Can personalities be passed down from generation to generation like physical appearences?

This guy I work with is mute and cannot hear and speaks in sign language.
I was thinking about this this morning.
It may seem like a really dumb question but are the signs that somone from the United States would use the exact same signs that someone who was from South America and spoke Spanish or from Germany and spke German or wherever.
Is there only 1 form of sign language or does each different language have its own form?

It saddens me to see so many people using this dreadful text messaging style of writing in every day use. It arose as a way of keeping cost down by keeping messages shorter - fair enough. It now creeps into all sorts of writing and I think that is a travesty. I don't buy into this " the language is evolving and it is the register that counts" - tosh. It is just laziness and we need to have it knocked on the head on any other medium than a telecom message. Agree or ....... ???
