My parents and I disagree about the proper etiquette for planning a housewarming party. I am a single woman that just purchased a house on my own. I started a registry of items for a housewarming party (which is a legit category of registries at all houseware stores. Check any website). My parents said that someone else is supposed to plan the party. How could someone else plan a party at my own house??! A housewarming is supposed to be a way of saying "Welcome to my home...come see it!" Also, how should the invitations be worded? Normally registries are for married couples. Can I just put "Registered at Linens N Things"? at the bottom?

Here is a powerful and amazing statement on Al Jazeera television. The woman is Wafa Sultan, an Arab-American psychologist from Los Angeles. I would suggest watching it ASAP because I don't know how long the link will be active. This film clip should be shown around the world repeatedly!!!
Your thoughts?

Isn't it fair to say, that if someone prays, they're not an atheist?

Why can't people like the one who asked this question get it into their heads that we really, truly, don't believe in a god in any way, shape or form?

Isn't this trying to suggest that atheists are taking up Pascal's wager?

Isn't that just a tad insulting?

Buddhism in Yahoo! answers is included in "religion and spirituality". Unfortunately most people who look up this topic are predisposed to arguing about whether Christianity or Athiesm is true. Most Buddhists I know don't want to enter in this dialouge either way...
In Yahoo! answers should Buddhists have their own category (even if Christians and Athiests don't) so they don't have to be bombarded by hate when they ask a question?
No matter what you think please tell me your Tradition and star my question so that Yahoo! answers knows what you think...

I know thousands upon thousands followed Billy Graham's teachings, and thought of him as infallible. They even entrusted him with their souls, believing that repeating his sinner's prayer saved them.

BUT who is his successor? I never did hear anything about a replacement.

Fellow Catholics and Christians. Given that it is widely believed by many of my brothers and sisters of faith that we follow god to avoid an eternal roasting in Satans parallel universe for the resurrected dead. And given that we couldn't possibly have missinterpreted the meaning of the original words which we replaced with hell. Please be so kind as to point out 1 verse in the old testament where avoidance of the eternal torture pit is given as a reason for following god. Perhaps a book by Solomon or several pages of the sayings of Moses would be justifiable given the gravity of the situation. But all I ask for is ONE VERSE.

The news reports on the Pope's document are totally incorrect. The quotes in the news reports are not even in the document.

I suggest people read the actual document at http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cfaith/documents/rc_con_cfaith_doc_20070629_responsa-quaestiones_en.html

Here are some quotes:

there are "numerous elements of sanctification and of truth" which are found outside her structure, but which "as gifts properly belonging to the Church of Christ, impel towards Catholic Unity"

It is possible, according to Catholic doctrine, to affirm correctly that the Church of Christ is present and operative in the churches and ecclesial Communities not yet fully in communion with the Catholic Church, on account of the elements of sanctification and truth that are present in them

"It follows that these separated churches and Communities, though we believe they suffer from defects, are deprived neither of significance nor importance in the mystery of salvation.

To me it seems he was most angry at money changers in the temple and self righteous hypocrite religious leaders. He defended the prostitute and told the robber he'd see him in heaven.
So why do so many Chrustians choose abortion and gays as their top 2 issues??? I guess if they chose greed and hypocrisy it wouldn't be as interesting??? Or they might have to point at themselves more???

Don't you think every time a preacher talks against homosexuals, an image pops in the minds of the children in the church??? Aren't you instructed to keep your minds on that which is good and pure, etc.???

If not can you honestly say that you have looked into the facts as well as some of the theories, before just going right to popular mechanics and screw loose change... ...?

If yes please tell me why and provide sources if necessary. I would also stress that you look equally at the debunking sights and learn the misinformation.

Question #5 of questions asked to Christians:

My reference is the Bible Answer Book

Sincere believers are sharply divide on this question. Some say Christians can lose their salvation and subsequently must be born again and again if they fall away. Others contend that true believers cannot lose their salvation through sin, but they can apostatize or walk away from their salvation. Still others hold that salvation begins at the moment of conversion (not death) and continues for all eternity - This is the veiw I have.

We will do well to remember that everlasting life means just that - life everlasting. This life does not begin when we die but when we embrace the Savior who died in our place. As our physical birth can never be undone, so too our spiritual birth can never be undone. Christ said "ye must be born again" (John 3:7), not "ye must be born again and again and again. in Philippians.
