I went to work and found the boss was going to be out all day. So i took the day off and went home. Then I found him making love to my wife. Was it best not to go in as he would have found out I had taken the day off work without asking.

I ask this as someone from outside the USA who is well aware of the pilgrims fleeing persecution, and also a shining light of tolerance that the was the inspiration for the American constitution. The American dream of the individual's right to succeed, whatever his background, has been inspirational to the rest of the world for centuries. Whether it was real or an illussion, I believe the intent of those who wrote it was genuine.

But it seems the religious right have hijacked the American dream.

Fundamentalist christianity has now turned the USA into a tragedy and klaughing stock in the eyes of the rest of the world.

Can the American dream be rescued from the clutches of the religious right?

I recognise this question is related to both politics and religion, so I will post it in both catergories.

God is the all seeing, all knowing superior being,n people talk about his forgivness so why then do people go to hell?why does'nt he forgive those who have strayed of his path?your meant to love thy neighbour n look after your family by teaching them right from wrong so why then did he kick his son lucifer out of heaven huh if you kicked your child out n disowned them would peolpe worship you for that? i think not, apparently if you pray to god n ask his forgivness he will forgive you...if thats the case then when eve ate the forbidden apple why didnt he ask her to repent and give her a 2nd chance(like the 2nd chance we get if us mere mortals go to church)nope god thought scrap that, adam and eve can go live a life of hardship and there children and childrens'children can suffer too,and if you don't believe him then you n your inocent children can drown and die while his fans sorry followers can get on a ark and live on,sounds like he'd get on well with some of todays world leaders!

a bean sprout? And where is abortion mentioned in the Bible? If you cared so much about murder, maybe you'd scream more about war and poverty.

or the majority of them and i think Islam's belief is jesus really did not die on the cross.....on the other hand islam thinks the bible has been translated so many time its lost its value...but from old testament prophecy to 60 some authors they all are in agreement that this would happen and did happen,i guess im trying to say....c'mon it has'nt lost that much agreement on one topic...why do you be belive he really was'nt crucified from one author or one writer...and im not being sarcastic here,i just want to understand more of islam...and wich direction your coming from....thanks mike....

Narrated Thuban: Prophet Mohammad (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) has said: Hell fire will not touch the one who fight against India and the one (who fight against Anti-Christ) in companionship with Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) (Masnad Shamin-1851, Ahmad-642, Nisai-426, Abu Uruba AlHarani-2102, Bukhari Tarikh AlKabir-726, Ibne Adi-5832, Ibne Asakar-110015).

And a similar hadith narrated in Sunnan Nisai AlKubra-4382 and Masnad Ahmad Bin Hanbal-7128. Narrated Abu Huraira: Apostle of Allah informed for fighting against India and I will be present (on the occasion) I will join it myself and with my property, if I will be killed I will be among high grade martyrs and I will return (living) I will be called free Abu Huraira.

Who armed them?

Who trained them?

Who financed them?

Yes sir, the good ol' USA!

Another one of those wonderful cold war legacies, like all those lovely dictators that were running Central America for so long!

Did they realise the danger of putting so much power in the hands of religious fundamentalists at the time?

Or did they just think of the short term objective of wanting to see the USSR humiliated?

I'm aetheist - always have been always will be but...I'm curious (this isn't intended to sound judgemental) why do you believe in what ever it is you believe in - in my eyes its unbelievably illogical and out right bizzare how so many people have become brainwashed into believing the most unbelievable things. is it for security, or fear... (please help me understand)

The New Encyclopædia Britannica says: “Neither the word Trinity, nor the explicit doctrine as such, appears in the New Testament, nor did Jesus and his followers intend to contradict the Shema in the Old Testament: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord’ (Deut. 6:4). . . . The doctrine developed gradually over several centuries and through many controversies. . . . By the end of the 4th century . . . the doctrine of the Trinity took substantially the form it has maintained ever since.”—(1976), Micropædia, Vol. X, p. 126.

I'm appalled at the amount of christian's, muslims and atheists who post appalling assertions on this forum without giving anything to back up their claim. Time and time again, people are asserting that the other "side" is made up predominantly of idiots. I decided to do some ACTUAL research on this assertion and actually found some suprising results.

kspark.kaist.ac.kr

Google search this; it sums up the results of my research very well.
