a bean sprout? And where is abortion mentioned in the Bible? If you cared so much about murder, maybe you'd scream more about war and poverty.

I'm giving you a star for this socially conscious question. Poverty is the country's Great Shame.

I believe it's a human being's right to have a chance at life. Everything happens for a reason, and if the baby was meant to die, God would have either: A) prevented the woman from conceiving in the first place; or B) caused her to miscarry. Even though it looks like a "bean sprout" (and thank you, btw, for not calling it a "blob of tissue") that's fine--doesn't make it any less human. It still has the DNA of a human, and if given the chance, will one day actually look like one.

I really don't understand why women won't carry the baby to term and give him/her up for adoption. Yes, I realize the government is clogged with foster children/over crowded orphanages, etc., but first of all, a couple who has money to adopt an infant (whethere it's a private adoption or a baby from an orphanage) does NOT live in poverty. If you love children enough to adopt one, the child is almost guaranteed to have a good life. Also, infants are in HIGH demand--they're rare and they don't last long. It's the same situation as dogs and cats at the pound. EVERYONE wants a kitten or puppy, and that's why the shelters are so clogged with older animals.

I don't know about the Bible, as I've never read it. My guess is that it's not mentioned becuase God didn't give us the ability to conceive children so we could turn around and abort them. Maybe he didn't see humans becoming as disgusting as some of us have become? I really don't know.

I care more about abortion than I do about war and poverty. War and poverty involves adults (not ALL, but MANY of whom are responsible for their own poverty). Abortion involves innocent, nameless children who don't have a say in the matter. I can choose not to use heroin, lose my job and become homeless. I can chose not to enlist in the Navy. I can choose not to elect a president who is war-happy. I can't choose for my mother to abort me and not give me a chance at life.
