We atheists are often told that life has no meaning if all we do is live a few decades and then die... but really, how is that different for theists?

Isn't eternity meaningless? What's the point of living forever?

I've known quite a few JWs who claimed to have the heavenly calling.

I've also known many who at some time or another had a feeling that they were of the annointed class but something held them back from partaking. The most consistent reason why they would doubt the leadings of the spirit was that they had been convinced that very few, if any, remained to fill the number of the 144,000 at this late date.

But there are some. The youngest I know is in her forties.

Have YOU ever thought you were having the experience of being called by the Holy Spirit? Did you begin partaking? If not, what held you back?

We hold a bible talk group at our home on a weekly basis. One of the families felt they weren't happy and decided to leave the group. The husband became very upset that my husband didn't want to keep up a friendship with him. My husband spoke to this fellow and said, well, we were never really that great friends anyway, so lets leave it be and go our own ways and keep our own friends. This man complained to our Minister that my husband was stubborn and unfriendly. Our Minister warned my husband that if he didn't resolve the friendship within 1 week he would be disfellowshipped from the church. We run the children's ministry and have worked so hard for our church for over 15 years so are really upset about this. It is like we are being blackmailed or the childish situation of "if you don't do this you won't be my friend"! So we think maybe we should leave. We would feel uncomfortable staying if this is how they think. Should he just say sorry? or should we go?

...that God SENT his Son to the earth, why do you insist that it was God himself who came? So, who came to earth? God or his Son?

I've heard it before; People claim that the people without religion don't have reasons to live.

How do they/you figure?

So, that must mean that your only reason is to serve god, right?

I have reasons: To go to school; become somebody, help others, raise a family, teach and guide the young, be a good person.

So, are you saying that those aren't reasons? Are you saying that to serve god is the best, and only reason?

The Archangels are the Guardians of Holy.
A Cherub guarded the gates to the Garden of Eden.
People view some Angels as Guardian Angels.

And there are probably other examples I don't know about where they either watched over someone or something.

And what is the correct Jewish term for it... apparently their is a celebration when child reaches 3 years of age.

I suspect there is a reason for this practise going back to a common-sense reason when the Jewish people lived mostly in the desert.

The books missing from Protestant Bibles are: Tobit, Judith, Baruch, Wisdom, Sirach, 1 and 2 Maccabees, and parts of Esther and Daniel.

Martin Luther, without any authority whatsoever, removed those seven books and placed them in an appendix during the reformation. They remained in the appendix of Protestant Bibles until about 1826, and then they were removed altogether.

There is *one unit* of 30 m Bailey Bridge, which is considered to be incomplete, but can still be modified so that it can be used as a replacement for the bridge that is expected to be collapsed in this rainy season. This bridge can function as a support if placed on the site to replace the collapsed bridge.

If you are holding hands with your partner or hugging in public & someone obviously diapproves, would you put on a show just to piss them off? I couldn't help myself. My attitude is if they're going to talk I might as well give them something to talk about. I hate nosy close minded fools

And why is this one of the seven top headlines on Yahoo!'s main page? Seriously, is this more important the the ranging wildfires of the west, the flooding of Texas, or countless other issues in the world which actually impact people. Seeing these types headlines in the spotlight just hurts my head.
