Jesus was Jewish. He was

born of a Jewish mother
circumcized on the 8th day (LK 2:21)
presented to God in the temple on the 40th day (LK 2:22)
worshipped in the synagogue (LK 4:16)
went to Jerusalem for the Holy Days of Passover (MT 26:17), Shavuot and Sukkot (LK 9:33)
he observed Hannukah
learned Torah quoted Hillel

He died as a Jew and was buried as a Jew

Certainly he was Jewish! He and his little band of merry men were not thinking of themselves as starting a new religion, but as a reform movement for Judaism which Jesus felt had become corrupted (this is why he got so upset in the Temple).

Christianity didn't become a separate religion until decades after Jesus was crucified.

I was raised Jewish and knew lots of Jewish people. When I read the New Testament I read things Jesus says that really sound Jewish to me! Like the way he answers a question with a story, and then asks the asker 'So what do you think?' That is SO Jewish!

WP,
At that time and in that region the only religion was Judaism. He was born of Jewish parents and raised as such. HE spent three years travelling around teaching and preaching with HIS Disciples. After HIS death, burial, resurrection, and ascension the Apostles were moved by the HOLY SPIRIT to begin Christianity at Pentecost where thousands were baptized. Have a wonderful week.
Thanks,
Eds

Was Jesus Jewish? Gee, what do you think -- that he was a German Lutheran with long blond hair and Viking features? Yeesh.

Yes, he was. The Last Supper was a Passover Seder. Ever wonder why the Catholic Eucharist is flat, and not fluffy like bread?
