Christians, in your bible it says
1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

1:9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

So your god goes on and on saying let there be this and let there be that. So just who exactly was your god talking to?

They like astronomy (this wasnt always so), chemistry, physics, oceanography, meteorology but have big problems with geology (5,000 yr old earth), biology (evolution) and hydrology (a flood over the entire earth and the water was miracled away). Is this the same pick and choose behavior fundies use when deciding which parts of the bible to use for daily living?

Why when I reach out for support for a friend do you guys report it as abuse? What is wrong with people? I can see if I was saying something racist or foul that there might be problem and I understand rules and regs in here but is it REALLY so offensive to ask for help in the form of prayer? Does it hurt your eyes to read it? Then don't. Simple solution. Wow that was tough to figure out. Does it cost anything? Can harm be a result from asking for prayer support? Prayer is something you do wherever you are in the privacy of your own home. What it this world coming to when people can swear and curse and be foul and racist and all that is protected by free speech but because of a few people who are offended, prayer requests are not protected. Thanks to all who contribute in getting prayer requests booted from the RELIGION forums where if anywhere they are appropriate.

Gay Seniors Canada mailing list]

Lavenders Looking Out for Gay Seniors

Despite their name, San Leandro’s Lavender Seniors aren’t a group
of
gray-haired ladies who lunch or get together to have a knitting circle.

Rather, they are an activist group whose mission is to improve the
quality of life of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT)
people
over the age of 55.

Both a political group and social organization, the Lavender Seniors
were formed over a decade ago when a group of gay seniors organized to
lobby in local government for representation.

Meeting in restaurants, the senior group quickly grew from a handful of
members to several hundred. They meet a couple of times a month
throughout Alameda County, giving voice to a segment of the population
that many people forget exists.

“I was recently at a conference and someone said to me, ‘Oh, I
never
really thought about gay people being old.’ It’s like, did you
think we
disappeared?” said Lavender Seniors care coordinator Pat Cull with a
laugh.

“As the baby boomer generation gets older, we’re seeing a lot of
LGBT
seniors with failing health with no family, some people lose their
homes
when their partner dies,” said Cull. “People are forgetting about
this
part of the population and we’re giving it a voice.”

Cull is especially passionate about the group’s Friendly Visitor
program
that pairs homebound elderly LGBT individuals with sympathetic
volunteers.

“A lot of people from this generation never came out of the
closet,”
said Cull. “And even if they did, sometimes they go back in the
closet
because they’ve become dependent on other people for care.”

The Friendly Visitor volunteer helps these seniors with everything from
doctor’s visits to grocery shopping, or they may just visit and talk.

Despite living in the traditionally liberal-minded Bay Area, Cull says
that LGBT seniors still face discrimination on a daily basis.

“Even in Berkeley, we’ve had our rainbow flags stolen, our posters
ripped down. People are still afraid to come out,” she said. “When
you
live in the closet, you depend on a small group of friends.

And when you get older, that group of friends starts to die out. These
people are alone and that makes them sad, nervous, and afraid and
that’s
no way to live.”

Friendly Visitor is just one of the Lavender Seniors many ongoing
social
programs. The group also holds informational meetings on health-care
options, potluck dinners, and fun activities.

All are welcome to the group’s next regular meeting, at 7 p.m.. on
July
11. For more information on the meeting and about the Lavender Seniors,
call 667-9655 or visit www.lavenderseniors.org.

Okay, if the ten commandment still stand, then why in the new testament did God all of the sudden split into a triple God, the son, the father and the holy sprit? Although they won't admit it, some Christians hold Jesus closer to their hearts, or so it seems, than God. Is this following the commandment? Is it just more of their hypocrisy?

Chrisitians; every time an atheist posts something that is against your beliefs you say that "you just don't understand because you aren't a believer" or "if you would just open your heart to Jesus, you would understand". I was a Christian once and I did open my heart to Jesus and guess what? I still left the religion. I was at one time a hardcore Christian.

I thought that the Bible was the absolute truth and I accepted Jesus into my heart. But still I saw that Christianity wasn't the truth. I saw that the Bible is flimsy and riddled with holes and I saw that it wasn't the truth?

How do you explain this? How do you explain that a firm believer who has accepted Jesus could still fall? How am I mistaken? How could this have happened?

Didn't Jesus say that he had no home. (If you really search the Bible you may find that Jesus did not like crowds.)
