It is not me, but a priest at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral says she is also a Muslim. Doesn't it mean that it is one religion in deed as all the Abrahamic religions come from the same source? What do you think?

If there were human addition to God's Words, wouldn't that change the original message of God? Is it not God's Words incomparable to human speech? Wouldn't that be consider impure, and distorted?
Please don't take this offensive, I am merely wondering why..

First of all, why is there so much emphasis on this in some churches? Doesn't the Bible say that different people have different gifts? Then why don't people push others to have the gift of teaching or giving or whatever?
As for people coming in to church and saying they were baptized in the Spirit in their private prayer time, how do others know they're not BS'ing if there were no witnesses?
I know that when a person speaks in tongues in public assembly there is supposed to be an interpreter, so when a person does this, how does he/she know there will be an interpreter?
And isn't there more to the Holy Spirit than tongues anyway?
I guess I'm a little cynical, having been raised in a church that doesn't really believe in tongues in the present day. But the church I'm in now is all over the place talking about this right now.

I put this in R&S because it's directly related to Islam - and because I'd get more answers than in the languages category :)

I've seen some people spell certain words with "sheen" as "y" such as "Shari'a" (Syariah) and "insha'allah" (insyaallah). Can anyone explain this? Is it regional, and if so, how? Is it a transliteration issue alone, or is it an actual difference of dialect?

Be as detailed as you like, I speak and read standard Arabic fluently.

As always I'll say up front I believe in God but am not religious. My question is: Im assuming most of you were raised into the religion you are. What keeps you from asking questions? What keeps you from exploring other religions or better yet asking yourself questions? Im guessing its some sort of sin to question your own faith but it just seems to be wise to me. We used to be taught the world was flat. If everyone accepted it where would we be? I asked this same question to atheists as well. I don't get why you stop looking. Atheists often joke that people who believe don't think and that they are smart. And in a sense they are right but there non-belief is a belief and they do the same thing insist they are right and close their hearts and minds. Im not trying to offend anyone here just wondering why you stop searching and completely dismiss anything thats different than what you currently belive.

The questions themselves are what convinced me there was a god.

I don't get it, you know. Some people say that Muhammad (saw) is a false prophet and copied the Qur'an from the Bible and the Torah. Muhammad (saw) was illeterate, which means he could not read and write. So how in the world do some people think that Muhammad (saw) wrote the Qur'an himself?
Please answer this honestly, my friends.

First I'll state I believe in God but am not religious. My question is have you stopped looking? I have no problem with you not believing some of the crazy stories that many religious people do. But I was wondering if you even look for a god anymore? Not a religion and not looking in a book but inside yourselves do you think about it? If not isn't it a mistake? Im not saying its a mistake to believe what you believe but a mistake to accept that there is no god as an axiom? Just as its a mistake for religious people to say there religion is "fact". In a sense sometimes your non-belief in god is as strange to me as a religious person believing some of the more hard to believe parts of religion. Im not putting anyone down here just wondering your thoughts
