I think that the human race is the result of a series of accidents. I believe whole heartedly in the theory of evoltion. A lot of people seem to be offended by the idea that they are an accident and that thier lives really have no purpose. They want to believe that they serve some devine purpose. However, even if the human race is not an accident, I know for a fact that my existence is an accident. I don't think God planned for me to be here. My parents did not have me till they were both in their 40's. They didn't wait so long because they were just waiting for the right time, they did not think that they were still capable of having kids in their 40's and then I happened. So I know for a fact that I am an accident and God did not intend for me to exist.

....left us a first-hand account of his knowledge of Christ?

For example:
"That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have SEEN with our eyes, which we have LOOKED upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
(For the life was manifested, and we have SEEN it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all."
I John 1:1-5

Thank God for the gospel.

I firmly believe in salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. However, one thing that is odd is that in Genesis 6:8-9, it appears that God chose Noah because he was practically righteous (not legally righteous) before God. Now, doesn't that throw a wrench into the whole idea of God saving sinners out of pure grace and mercy?

My whole life my parents never really had my siblings and I go to church and practice a religion. I just wonder sometimes if I'm missing out on something that's really important. Is it important to have a religion? I don't really understand the whole idea of it because, as I've said, I never experienced it. Any thoughts on this?

"Christian" -- one who believes in Christ -- or -- one who believes in Christ the way I define Christ.

“Cult” – A religion with strong beliefs outside religious/social norms – or – A religion that separates its followers from society through peer/financial/etc. pressures – or – A religion practiced with zeal by its followers.

“Marriage” – A spiritual/emotional/legal binding of one man and one woman – or -- A spiritual/emotional/legal binding of any number of humans regardless of gender or age – or – (make up your own)

Etc. – these words seem to mean one thing to one group and something else to others, and we argue and become offended because what? – We do not define the words the same way?

Just asking.

(Btw) the definitions above are not to be construed as a comprehensive list of definitions of each word. Go ahead and put down your own definitions.

Universities? I keep seeing the same thing over and over.."well they have BET...if we had WET..then we would be labeled racists" or "if we had all white schools, we would be considered racist" come on people...do you all have any idea why HBCU were even created? At one point and time blacks weren't created equal, weren't allowed to get an education in the same building as whites. I am getting a little annoyed because people are failing to realize that. Now I will say this, I don't feel people should keep looking back at slavery or segregation as a means to be racist, or to feel that something is owed to us, but this whole thing is bugging me that people aren't realizing the purpose of the NAACP...or HBCU's etc.
Anything else that I may have I left out, please feel free to add something...seriously lets not attack each other..just simply give your opinion..without being disrespectful..thanks

What is so bad if we have all these cultures in America? Isn’t that what America is all about? I think it's wonderful that we learn about different cultures, but we have to leave the political aspects out. And does it matter if this culture comes from undocumented immigrants or documented immigrant?

While those that shout "tolerance" the loudest are the least tolerant of Christianity?

Is the idea to be tolerant of everyone (Atheists, Buddhists, Hinduists, Muslims...) except for Bible believing Christians?

so when i last left off, we concluded that your greatest defense to the First Cause Proof of God's existence was: "if God doesn't need a creator, then why does the Universe?" I guess I just don't get something. You are declaring that the universe is without beginning, and therefore, without end. The first purpose of this argument is to show that SOMETHING infinite exists; something without begininning and without end. You say the infinite thing is The Universe. But the second purpose of this argument is to name that Infinite thing. The name provided by St. Thomas Aquinas is "God". Here's my question. Christians have taken this "God" and, through revelation, have concluded that this "God" is the Trinity. Atheists have taken this "God" (remember, in this argument God = Infinite being without begining or end) and concluded it is The Universe. How do you not consider yourselves pantheists?

Do you know of any? I like St Blaise, the Patron Saint of Throat Problems. The most unusual one wins 10 points.

This isn't just limited to Christianity by the way, if you can produce a god/goddess, Holy person. prophet etc. who represents something odd, then it counts.

I just thought we could do with a nice silly break from all the usual bedlam on R&S (Just running this tonight, so hurry, hurry, hurry! ) :)
