I think that the human race is the result of a series of accidents. I believe whole heartedly in the theory of evoltion. A lot of people seem to be offended by the idea that they are an accident and that thier lives really have no purpose. They want to believe that they serve some devine purpose. However, even if the human race is not an accident, I know for a fact that my existence is an accident. I don't think God planned for me to be here. My parents did not have me till they were both in their 40's. They didn't wait so long because they were just waiting for the right time, they did not think that they were still capable of having kids in their 40's and then I happened. So I know for a fact that I am an accident and God did not intend for me to exist.

Well, clearly you've proven that your PARENTS did not intend for you to exist.

I'm pregnant despite measures to prevent pregnancy. I assume, therefore, that God DID in fact plan my baby, since I sure didn't. How does your parents' "accident" rule out God's plan?

Even if your parents may consider you an "acciden", don't let this be your mindset. You are here now, you are alive, breathing fresh air. Make the most out of your life, strive to maximize your potential always. Who knows.....Albert Einstein, too, may have been an "accident", but science is truly greatful for his contribution. what becomes of you in life depends on you. don't live as though you're an "accident". live with a purpose. it's your life, after all.

And..............even if the human race is the result of an "accident": if you've been living a lie all your life, then that lie becomes truth to you. if the human race is an accident, then it really does not matter, because this "accident" has become true reality to us all. if the origin of life is the result of a series of random events, then there is no "accident". if random events are trhe reality, then whatever occurrs is not an accident, but simply the inevitable product of randomization.

Christians get a bad rap sometimes I think...not all of them are ignorant. My personal opinion is similar to that of the deists of old. God set everything in motion, and has a plan, but we don't know what it is and He very rarely interferes.

I don't necessarily know if I believe in evolution or not...it is just a theory, not scientific fact. Rumor has it too, that Darwin recanted everything on his death bed, but that is just a rumor as far as I know.

Regardless I don't believe you are an accident. God is out there, with a plan, even if it seems chaotic and unpredictable at times. Most people don't understand the true balance that this world has. If any number of little things hadn't happened just right, we wouldn't exist. That is where God comes in, placing His plan and order in the diguise of chaos.

read Richard Dawkins and Stephen Jay Gould's books for arguments to support your viewpoint
I like Gould's prose style but you may like Dawkins.
There's also a chapter in God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything by Christopher Hitchens about evolution by chance rather then design.

I was given up for adoption as a newborn... I figured that I was an accident, too. But, I have grown to understand that everyone has some purpose... even if our parents didn't plan for us to happen, God did. It is heartbreaking to hear that you think your life is pointless, but encouraging to know that is often the time when God makes His presence known to people.

Just because you think that you were an accident doesn't mean that everyone else is. I was brought into this world because of Jesus Christ. I can't look outside and be convinced that this whole world was an accident. The only accidents I beleive in is the ones you have in a car.

Yeah, I agree with you,. Christians try to discredit evolution by saying there is no way the world could have fallen into place by "accident". First of all, it isn't perfect, it's a bit of a mess actually, secondly, it wasn't an "accident" , the world is the result of billions of years of natural selection.
