Frankly, God is intolerant. Scripture is intolerant. That doesn't mean God isn't loving. It just mean He isn't tolerant of sin. People who insist on sinning disapprove of God's "attitude." Hence, those who believe God and what He says, who strive for the same attitude as Christ, are perceived as intolerant.
There is something to be said for such "intolerance." But there is no excuse for hate or a hateful attitude. We should be tolerant of ALL people and strive to live peaceably as much as possible, as God has commanded us. It is the sin which we should not tolerate, because if we tolerate it, we can become prone to it.

That isn't true. Some Christians are very tolerant, like God's Kitty and Debra M. It just that many Christians aren't, and they tend to be the louder ones.
And people are usually tolerant of others, as long as they are respectful. People may not be tolerant of Christianity, but if Christians are respectful they will at least be tolerant of Christians. It's all how you're represented.

Because Christianity preaches that the road to heaven is narrow, and the world says that all roads lead to heaven. The secular humanist religion can't tolerate other viewpoints because if any other way was talked about, they'd have competition that they couldn't handle. They seek to squash the truth so that their lies can be more widespread. It's much easier to indoctrinate folks who only have access to the indoctrination.
True education, offering more than one viewpoint, would allow more people to find the truth. That is why God is being removed from the school. It's much easier to brainwash our children when you don't tell them that there is a God who loves them. It makes the humaist agenda easier to solidify.

It depends on the person who believes in God and the Bible. While most of them don't press their beliefs onto others there are a select group of those who believe that if others don't believe what they themselves believe they need to change those people's minds.
As a non-Christian I have run into my fair share of those who badger me about my personal beliefs and declare that I am wrong because I don't believe what they believe.
Most of my friends who are Christian, or Jewish or whatever religion are extremely tolerant. They believe in God but they feel no need to force their beliefs on me or anyone around them.
It's important to be tolerant of everyone but sometimes those in the majority in terms of religion feel that everyone should feel as they do. And that isn't that case. There are many religions in the world and all of them are valid. Not everyone may believe they are valid but that doesn't give anyone-believer or non believer the right to criticize and force their beliefs on anyone.
As long as no one is forcing their beliefs I doubt anyone would consider Christians intolerant. After all your religion is based on Jesus' love. Love is a very tolerant ideal. It's just those of us who aren't Christians don't care for being told what to believe. I'd rather find God in my own way.

When you push your beliefs in other people's faces as if yours are the only right ones, that's intolerant, and I'm not going to be tolerant of that kind of behavior. Historically, Christians have been the most intolerant people on the planet--and I'm not talking about one person being mean to someone else, I'm talking about governmental and theological policies, from the Crusades, to the Inquisition, to "religious" wars through the centuries, to the Holocaust, to Northern Ireland, and on and on. Think we're only talking about ancient history? Do you believe an openly atheistic person could be elected President? Ha-- he/she would be lucky to get elected dog catcher. So, who's intolerant? Atheists aren't stopping Christians from doing one single thing they want to do.
Addition: Kleb, you're delusional. Christians voice their opinions ALL the time. Every time our President opens his mouth, for example. Every time you look at a piece of currence and see "In God We Trust" on it: you don't think that's a Christian opinion? You're in the majority in this country yet constantly carry on like you're being persecuted, and it's simply not true.

Probably because they aren't exposed to the others as much. When was the last time you were heckeled by Hindu's while trying to enter an planned parenthood clinic.
Have you ever been called a ****** by a Buddhist?
Are the Muslims behind stopping stem cell research?
The truth is that Christians are just an easier target, because they tend to be in charge.
And tolerent people don't tell you that you are going to be tortured for eternity if you don't agree with them.

People are so intolerant of Christians because Christians try to stand up for what is right. They are just good honest people who try to do the will of God, and people look at them as goody goody people and I guess they don't' like it, because the people who are so upset with Christians are the people who have all kinds of problems in their lives and who are doing all the wrong things. Maybe it's jealousy. Besides that Christians also serve God, not allah, or buddah, or satan, but Jesus Christ. And with that being said Jesus Christ is the most mentioned name in history, either people are for or against him. For those who are for him are Christians, the rest well you get the picture. They are too caught up in this world and their own games to accept Jesus as their Saviour. They want to do things their way, and if Christianity says it's wrong, then they get all defensive. They do not realize that some things are wrong in this world. It's not a whatever floats your boat life style that they should be living and deep down in their soul, somehow they know that and just don't want to admit it, because they are somehow afraid of becoming honest with themselves and becoming a Christian. Let's put it this way either your following your father, they heavenly one Jesus Christ, or your following your father the earthly one satan. If your not following Jesus then satan is your father, and if satan is your father then well satan is against Jesus Christ, so your going to follow your father's lead. That's why this world is a mess today, too many people serve their father satan, this world can't give them enough and they love it, their here only to serve themselves and they do not care about the after life, or should I say the true life that will begin not to end. The life were living now has begun to end, but the life we will life will begin not to end, your either going to Heaven or Hell and some people just don't want to believe that concept, yet they want to mock God and the things that are good, and live life their way without any consequences. yet they do not realize that they will have consequences, it's just a matter of time.

the problem for many is that religion is created by man, not god. also when you read the bible, you find that there are rules that need to be obeyed or you wont get to heaven, or so the televangelists keep saying. since judaism was one of the first monotheistic religions, and many of the laws put down by both man and god are somewhat restrictive(sex before marriage, no sex with someone of the same sex, etc), and that christians essentially build upon that base, people are going to claim the christians and jews are intolerant of people. one thing that christians point to is that jesus told us to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. meaning that we need to tolerate the points of view of others, but we also need to tell our point of view. the problem though is that many are arrogant to the point that they will tell you to be tolerant of other view points unless they conflict with your own. christians forget to tell people to be tolerant of others though.

Some Christians are very intolerant. They have a goal of converting the entire world to their religion. They say anyone who doesn't think the same way will burn forever in a fire pit full of demons. They make fun of other religions and call their gods and goddesses false idols. This is what bothers most people that call Christians intolerant. If you're a Christian, you should show tolerance to prove the critics wrong. Complaining about a bad reputation doesn't fix it.

A good trick for softening up someone for conversion is not to insult them beforehand. After all, most people have fragile egos. So many Christians have yet to learn this important lesson. They can be as intolerant as they please, but I'd prefer politeness and a detente, rather than pushiness.
