Why is it that when people think racist they automatically assume you are talking about an evil & disgusting white(usually male)person.Yes, I know about America's history of slavery/lynchings & Jim Crow laws. The vast majority of white Americans aren't racist. When people talk about terrorism they always say this is a small percentage of the Arab & Muslim worlds.Nobody ever says that most whites aren't racist.Speaking of racism have you ever been a white person walking through Detroit/Baltimore/Washington D.C./Gary,Indiana or Harlem late at night?

For you, how do you personally know when God is speaking to you? By what means does He do so? I'm doing a study on this and am just curious.

I'm bracing myself for all the mockery and ridiculousness that will come from this question. I'm also hoping to get some real, genuine answers.

It's hard to define mental illnesses like schizophrenia because it's so varied that most if not all of us have some mild form of mental illness.

Do you think that creationists are more likely to occupy the high end of the mental illness scale? as it were.

"Men never commit evil so fully and joyfuly as when they do it for religious convictions"

We must respect the other fellow's religion, but only in the sense and to the extent that we respect his theory that his wife is beautiful and his children smart."

The way to see by faith is to shut the eye of reason.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

No man ever believes that the Bible means what it says; he is always convinced that it says what he means.

Philosophy is questions that may never be answered. Religion is answers that may never be questioned...........

If God knew that Eve was going to be tricked into eating the fruit from the snake or should we say the devil then why didn't he prevented that from happening? (remember God is "perfect") And also if God is loving then why does he give us freewill to do evil. I thought God wanted us to go to Heaven and be happy. So this must mean that the bible had been written from really intellgent men with great imagination.

I need a 2nd job to "get by." I planned to look for bartending/waitressing jobs this week(totally unrelated to my 1st job at an office), & to leave my 1st job a few hrs early to do this, since the only good time to jobsearch is during the afternoon before the happy hr & night crowds. (My job lets us leave early if we make up the hrs later in the week) I neeeeeed a 2nd job or I will not have enough $ to pay bills.

I consulted w/ my coworker that I was leaving early on Tues. Then my coworker had a family emergency that he had to leave early for, so I had to stay(at least 1 of us has to be there). Then we agreed I would go today(Wed) but then he had to leave early to take his kid to the doctor. He's had a lot of family emergencies lately so I know it's not bullshit. So I'm pushing back the jobsearching again.

What if this happens tomorrow, should I give in or should I leave early anyway? I don't want to look like a pushover OR a b*tc#. What should I do?

I've found everyone in this forum has an opinion, positive or negative, on Christianity. But I don't hear many thoughts on Paganism. What do you know about it? What are your opinions?

I was raised Catholic. I have nothing against Christianity, it just wasn't right for me. At 16 (I admit it began because I jumped on the angsty teen bandwagon) I started researching Wicca, and eventually "converted". It's been eight years now. I do this because there is a respect for nature that I think we've lost in modern life, and it teaches us to be responsible for our own actions and to work toward positive change in our lives. We don't place the blame on anyone, and there is no devil to point fingers at. And I've found that a lot of people think we sit here casting some crazy Harry Potter-style spells. Not true. I celebrate the changing of the seasons and the moon with small rituals that aren't too far off from Catholic ritualism. But that's just my thoughts. What say you?

France has outlawed wearing of crosses or other religious symbols in the work place. If I owned a business I would. We seem to have such religious differences it seems that spewing or personal takes us away from our jobs.
My farther was a southern baptist minister. Once a new convert got fired for witnessing in the work place. My father explained that when he was at work he should give all to his employer. Witnessing can be done on breaks. A workman is worthy of his hire.

Like with a web site with a news clip of it actully happening....
I have heard many people tell me "Oh. That really happens, people get slipped a micky and wake up in a bath tub full of ice cubes with a note saying call 911 and one of their kidneys is missing"
But I have never seen a news story to back it up.
Can anyone find me proof?

... for how we identify ourselves publically?

I'm not talking about the anti-Catholic extremists who don't acknowledge us as Christian, period, but the average inquirer without an "anti" agenda who asks questions of "Christians and Catholics".

Think about it. In real life as opposed to Y!A, when the subject of religion comes up, don't most Protestants regardless of denomination or sect first say "I'm Christian"? And in the same situations, most Catholics say "I'm Catholic". I know this is a bit of generalization but then again, it does reflect what I've seen (and said) myself for many years.

If the average person is under the impression that Catholic is different from Christian (again, not counting those who have been specifically taught this) -- and it certainly seems so, given the many times we have corrected it here -- wouldn't it be better to also make our first response "I'm Christian" if further distinction isn't relevant to the situation?

If evolution is true and not creation then what did Jesus need to die for. Evolution says there was sin and death before man. Creation says man brought sin into the world. Death and suffering was caused by man.

For example, the Physical World follows the Laws of Cause and Effect, meaning that everything that happens now was caused by something right before that which was caused by something before that and so on, up until you reach the beginning of the universe, where God started it. Now, Atheists would now say that God can't exist because he has no cause. Yet, in the quantum world, it is shown that not everything in the quantum world has a cause, yet it does have an effect. Meaning that it is possible for God to have an effect, but no cause.

Only answer if you understand what I mean, please.

and they started speaking with tongues, now when Peter ordered the crowd to be baptized, how come they did not refuse to be baptized like they do now days. I mean now days they say no we do not have to be baptized because we have the Holy Spirit because we speak in tongues as proof. It is obvious to me that with this Scripture, one still needs to be baptized.

Every day, I rinse my mouth out with Listerine. Millions and millions of innocent bacteria are slain by the alcohol and washed from my mouth. Their tiny life force is siphoned away in a matter of 60 seconds and some swishing tongue action.

Granted, bacteria aren't human beings, and probably don't have a soul let alone a relationship with their creator.

Considering I've slain probably trillions and trillions of bacteria in my lifetime, could I have slain the equivalent of at least one human being's worth of bacteria?

Now in the eyes of the God that many humans worship, I gather that I'm probably not a murderer, in a similar way that the OT God considered preservation of its own people above all else. In other words, since the bacteria aren't on God's "team", they're okay to slay. But... am I in danger of angering a possible other deity which serves bacteria upon our earth?
