The only people who explicitly worship Satan are devil worshipers. Unfortunately there aren't too many groups who do this that can be called orgainzed religions (though the Temple of Set comes to mind). Most devil worshippers are people who get their information from Church propaganda stories and tacky horror movies.

As for those who "don't believe in any larger existence", you have to be more clear about that. It could be said that atheists don't "believe in any larger existence", but "atheism" is not extensive enough to be called a religion; it's simply a lack of belief in deity.

I see many here who don't have their facts straight. Satanists do not worship Satan. Anybody who does a minimal amount of research on the subject (and literature has been publically available for over 40 years) can figure that out. Satanism is a non-theistic religion based on an Epicurean philosophy that makes use of the ARCHETYPE of Satan and what he represents (pride, lust, skepticism, self-reliance, etc.). You can find out more about them from www.churchofsatan.com.

There's also no need for terms like "theistic Satanist" or "LaVeyian Satanist". Before the Church of Satan, there was absolutely no organized religion actually called "Satanism", so the Church of Satan has dibs on the term. And this isn't a case of "different sects", like how Catholics and Protestants are both "Christians". Satanists and devil worshipers have absolutely nothing in common, except I suppose for shopping at some of the same clothing stores.

Coming from a true satanist disregard what some of the fools above me have posted. Devil worshipers whether they are polytheistic, henotheistic, or they believe in duality actually worship Satan. There are what are called atheistic satanists which are those who read the satanic bible by anton lavey. they refer to satan as an archtype, in other words they ( the satanists) are the satans of the world. (satan is a noun which means the accuser, It is NOT a proper name like the new testement speaks of.) they atheistic satanist believe in no higher power at all and they consider satanic rituals pyschodrama to help get them in the mood for their magical workings. if you are interested in the subject of theistic satanism then let me know.

Devil Worshippers, as opposed to LaVeyan Satanists worship the Devil, sometimes called Satan.

Theistic Satanists worship an entity/god known as "Satan". I think Luciferians fall into this category.

LaVeyan Satanists do not recognize any deity - they are atheistic at their core, but use the term "Satan" to represent certain traits within themselves and humanity. I believe the Temple of Set is an offshoot of LaVeyan Satanism.

true worshipers of the devil are called luciferians, satanism is more of a hedonistic, do whatever makes you happy, type of religion, and those who do not believe in god or the devil, or any sort of higher power are called athiests

Mans attempt to do things that will please God.
The problem is , there is nothing anyone can do to please God.

Chrisitianity is not about doing things to meet Gods approval,It's about believing what's already been done.
