I am a Baptist because I believe that it follows the Bible as closely as any Major denomination. Granted there are variations from church to church, but the core system is solid. I went through a period where I examined a lot of the other belief systems and decided that the Baptists make the most sense to me. I don't think that the Catholics have honored the faith because of the way they let the pagans by converting their dieties into Patron Saints. They also believe that the church has the power to excommincate some one and thus sending them to Hell. I don't think that any earthly organization has that authority or power.

Lutherans and Methodists and Presbyterians have embraced too much of the modern theology. In my opinion most of the modern theology is bunk. They want to pick and choose what part of the Bible is valid and true. The result is a watered down kind of faith. What is the purpose of worshipping a God that doesn't do miracles or answers prayers? What is the purpose of thowing out the standards of human behavior?

The Charismatics have one major flaw in my opinion. They believe that one can lose their salvation. I believe in eternal security, so I am not in true harmony when I go to their churches. Some of them are also very legalistic. The list of dos and don't is long. I follow a good many of them, but I don't believe that my salvation depends on that (works), so once again although we have much in common those fine points take away the harmony.

I am not a Calvinist. Calvinist churches do not believe it is important to share the good news of Christ. Some Baptist churches are Calvinist, but it don't take long for one to figure that out.

I have always preferred to go to churches that mantained some sort of independence, I don't like the prepackaged lessons and sermon of the week sent down from central headquarters.

I guess you have gotten my opinion. Oh and this is the only place that I confront other Christians, because this is a place where people willing come to explore this topic. I think that on the whole most Christians have much more in common than we have different. The key of the faith is salvation, and once you are saved then how you worship is between you and God.

Going to church would not make you a Christian, any better than sitting in a storage makes you a vehicle. once you've faith in Jesus, you're a Christian! locate a church which: a million. Exalts Jesus 2. Seeks to save the lost (evangelises) 3. Is Bible-targeted (teaches from the Bible, and derives all doctrine from the Bible, truly than the words and recommendations of sinful adult adult males/traditions) Any church it truly is trustworthy to the Bible ought to do a million. and a couple of. besides. of those you indexed, i'd propose a baptist church, even if it would not must be. There are some problems with Catholicism, which include "papal infallibility", the worship of Mary, "apostolic succession", some thing they call "transubstantiation" the position the bread/wine at Communion are concept to truly change into the body/blood of Christ, confession to a clergyman and finally justification through works. That very last issue is somewhat probably the biggest issue with Catholicism, even if it is truly arguable.

I am a Seventh Day Adventist
After studying and researching the Bible for many years and asking The Lord to guide me; I finally found the true church.
-The true church must believe that Christ is the Messiah
-Must believe in the Bible as the only and true inspiration.
"your word is true" John 17:17
-Must believe in the second coming of Christ, mentioned 94 times in the new testament. Jesus promised: "I will come again" John 14:3
-Must believe in the 10 commandments, "remain firm to the end, obeying his commandments and trusting Jesus" John 14:12
-Must have the spirit of prophecy,"Brothers and sisters who testify of their faith in Jesus. Worship God, for the essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus" Revelation 19:10
-Must observe the Sabbath day, Saturday, not sunday. "Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy" It is God's seal. Exodus 20:8-11
Many people question this, why? because every other church observes Sunday.
AD321 Emperor Constantine was responsible for "switching"the day of observance from Saturday to Sunday. Calling it "Sun Day" Then, Concilio de Laodicea, Roman Catholic Church sanctified it.
The Catholic Record written September 1st. 1923 says "Sunday is our mark of authority. The church is above the bible, and this transference of the sabbath observance is proof of that fact."
This is when I realized that I needed to follow what the Bible says and not what a church tells me to do.And I started searching for the church that had these qualities.
- Will we follow religious tradition or God's commandments?

I worship in the Assemblies of God church. [I was raised Methodist] I have stayed with the A/G for many years, because I agree with the tenets of faith, the doctrine, and interpretation of Scripture.

Note: there is nothing 'wrong' with being Methodist. I had attended an A/G church as a guest of a friend. The service was so ALIVE. I had never known about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ before. I asked Jesus into my heart on that night 32 years ago .

Seventh-day Adventist. It's because my parents chose it. I think it's a phony religion, which it is, because Ellen G. White (one of the founders) was NOT a prophetess no matter what anybody says! She plagurized (is that how you spell it?) to write her books AND denied it. Plus Seventh-day Adventists say nobody but Seventh-day keepers will go to heaven. Now, would a loving God truly let so many people go to hell--simply for worshiping on the "wrong" day (Sunday, Wednesday)? That would be far too many people burning up in hell. Sorry, serious Seventh-day Adventists, but that religion is stupid. I'm ashamed to be born into that type of family.

I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which is a sect in the Mormon / Latter Day Saint denomination.

I'm LdS because it makes sense to me. Living prophets to address today's concerns. Potential to live with my family throughout eternity. Not to mention the freedom I have.

Latter-day Saint. I chose it because I love the teachings we have about families being together forever. I also love the emphasis we place on the family and how it is the most important unit to humanity.
