....left us a first-hand account of his knowledge of Christ?

For example:
"That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have SEEN with our eyes, which we have LOOKED upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
(For the life was manifested, and we have SEEN it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all."
I John 1:1-5

Thank God for the gospel.

There seems to those that hate the fact that I'm speaking of the Gospel to other Christians. What's up with THAT?

Except we really don't know who wrote that. There was no Christian bible before the fourth century. Then it was controlled by the Catholic Church which did not allow the secular world to even see them. Given the history of the church all scriptures are suspect. The King James Version claims to have the a text that was never in the hands of Rome. We know that this is not true because the Roman Catholic Church created the New Testament. King James the illegitimate son of Henry VIII to solidify his control over England. A lot of editing went into it. As a matter of fact the 1950 revision of the KJV puts in italics words that were added.

John also stated that Christ would return before his death.

He then promptly died.

Ooops.

And Dani is EXACTLY right about the origins of the Bible, perhaps you should spend some time learning about how your believe was created by the Catholics before calling them 'not of the Lord'.

How can there be no darkness inside of anyone ? I'm sure no light gets inside of me, except during operations.

If you would read the bible, and not believe the words in red, would you then have to believe because John tells you?

I see. So John had the authority of God because...he wrote that he had the authority of God.
