So Hollywood is all about Scientology now. Why? I personally think it's a waste of people's time. I mean it reminds me of a folk tale, nothing real or sound. So why would people be so eager to believe this myth? God is who they should spend their time with. God is the one who is real and who is here for them, why would people try to focus on a religion that is so weird. I don't understand why people would turn God down, what is it about people that makes them second guess a God who's real and loves them, but will run and believe some crazy made up religion???

Your own religions permit it? No religious scripture of the three scriptures of Christians, Jews and Hindus stop from polygamy.
In earlier times, Christians were permitted to have as many wives as they wished, since the Bible puts no restriction to the number of wives. It was only a few centuries ago the Church restricted the number of wives to one.
Polygamy is permitted in Judaism. According to Talmudic law, Abraham had three wives, Solomon had hundreds of wives. The practice of polygamy was continued until Rabbi Gershom ben Yehudah issued an edict against it.
Earlier, there was no restriction on the Hindu men in respect to the number of wives. It was only in 1954, when the Hindu Marriage Act was passed that it became illegal for a Hindu to have more than one wife. Many Hindu religious personalities, according to their scriptures, had multiple wives. Krishna had several wives while King Dashrat (Father of Rama) had more than one wife.
So none of the holy books stop you from polygamy.

Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?

Or any other religion, for that matter. Not to support generalizations, but is there something that definitely separates them from non-religious psychologists and counselors apart from personal beliefs?

Do they try to solve problems by using God? If they need degrees in the subject to have the job, I don't see how this could be... but I might be wrong.

Surely the qualification for being a scientist is that you only come to conclusions if there is evidence for an assumption. Also, religions spout loads of stuff that contravenes natural laws, like a man living in a whale and a woman concieving without having it off. Isnt it true that people who believe this can only be half-scientists?

The assignment is to take a particular religious tradition and describe the relationship within it between the official and popular faith. Basically to compare the old-fashioned, formal method of a tradition to the more common, everyday method. Any ideas on what tradition? It can be any faith. Thank you!

e went to Burger King for lunch. If you are are parent, or plan to be one, I think you should read this!
The four of us, Kevin, I, Michael, and Landon were sitting at a table eating our late lunch. I will NEVER again in my life go to another burger king. One of there cashiers or whatever he was, threw a french frie that hit Landon in the back of the head! I am outraged! The shift manager did nothing. He said to calll in the morning and talk to the head manager. How dare this person not be fired already! HOw dare he not be suspended! Landon is a baby. He is one and one month old. What kind of parents raised this person to think it is ok to through food? Let alone at an infant! I am calling first thing, along with the health inspector, newspapers, etc.... I am also posting this on aLL my accounts like yahoo to let you guys know what kind of a society we live in. I was raised not to throw food, I am sure all of you were raised the same. Landon is fine, thank god. But its the princliple. What if it hit him in the eye.. Wtf is wrong with society? On the way out, I left all our wrappers and drinks and the food on the floor. Figured that they needed something to do, seeing as on the way out I stopped this man from getting food at burger king, I told him what had happened, and i bet he is still wondering why any one would throw a french fry at a child! I think he went to Arbys... I told him it was better anyways... I am now boycotting Burger King. How dare they mess with my sons! Its a wonder why I am not currently in jail with my Irish temper.

... to spend 363 (and a quarter) days of each year critising Christian belief, then use our holy days to overeat, get presents, and blather on about men in red suits and bunnies with buckets of chocolate?
If you believe then celebrate. If you don't believe you can still celebrate.... But why do some people celebrate the birth and the resurrection of Jesus when they spend the rest of the year calling it all "fairytales"?

Does the whole world hate Islam or is it just the west. I hear like in China and Asian countries they treat us very respectfully. Also places like Australia and Africa we don't go to bad through. So why do i see hate coming from every part of America treating Muslims badly. There are so many tolerant Muslims not bent on blowing the world up but so shouldn't secular societies try to help with that. I understand the rage of 9/11 but there are still republican Muslims who agree with you. So basically does all of the West hate Muslims?

I know what i believe, and that wont ever change... i'm just curious. I've read up on other religions and all have the same basic principles ..... some form of sin or wrongdoing, some form of a need for redemption, attrition, or restitution for offenses, and all have a form of what is 'heaven' or 'eternity' per that particular religion. I am under the assumption/impression that mine is the most practical and logical, but i dont despise the beliefs of others.
I'm just curious..... which one do you think, is the most logical? As in, not fruity and nutty in theory or practical application of its core belief system.... but, it just makes sense?

I often see this as a qualifying statement in many answers. "A 'true' Christian does this or that, or believes this or that". It seems as if there are Christians, and "true" Christians. I have even seen contradicting answers, with each claiming to be a "true" Christian. It is confusing. Aren't ALL Christians followers of Christ? If this is true, then how can there be "untrue" Christians?
