Have you thought about the fact that our free will might not include the ability to seek out God? If we can't "select him" because our eyes are already clouded from birth, then God in his mercy would have to save us because we are robots alright -- robots for Satan and the ways of the world. God saves some, but not all, but since we should all be punished anyway, he is glorified in both his saving AND his leaving of some persons in their sins, destined for punishment. Those people don't know or care anyway about God, and neither would the Christian except for God's mercy and grace.
Since we do not know whose names are written in the book of life, we exhort each other and evangelize, knowing full well that we are only participating in what God is doing, not taking the credit for salvation because of what we do, either to witness or to "accept" salvation.

This is why Jesus died on the cross.
The free will of man ultimately turns him away from the path of righteousness and leads to condemnation. Jesus died on the cross so that we might be given a chance for salvation, for all fall short of the glory of God.
If Jesus had not redeemed of us of our sins we would all be condemned by God due to his omniscience.

The future is known not determined by God. He gave us a free will to make choices. He already knows the choice that we are going to make He did NOT determine or make that choice for us.
Take for example a child...you know that your child likes vanilla ice cream. You offer your child vanilla ice cream AND chocolate ice cream. You already know that your child will choose vanilla ice cream and your child does just that. Did you make the choice for your child? NO...you just knew that that would be the choice that your child would make.
Same goes for God...He doesn't make our choices...He just already knows what we are going to choose. ...in some cases that just makes God very sad because He would rather that ALL be saved but He wants us to come to Him willingly not because we have no free will and He will NEVER go against our will.

ssshhht you're ruining the plan
it's because when the qualities of God where nominated they had less understanding of logic and the much later Free will concept is in direct conflict whith this
on the other hand if he isn't omniscent his not perfect so why bow to an imperfect god

Your phone rings a friend of yours is on the other end of the line. He tell you that he is about to rob the 1st National Bank in 2 minutes. You now know the future for this person does this knowledge deny him his will to continue with his crime? Would anyone knowledge of the event take this choice away from them? I don't see it. Someone's foreknowledge of an event does not take any freedom away from the person who will be conducting the event.... Jim

“1) Christians call this pre-destination. They say that god knows what you'll choose before he even creates you, but somehow you still have free will to make up your own mind. It's a catch 22, a good god creating a person knowing that he'd just send them to hell in the end means he isn't good. 2) If God foresaw that Adam/eve will eat the fruit, therefore in no other possible way could Adam or Eve could avoid god's prediction, if they could, then god isn't omniscient.” - bishop8000
“Even if it's only foreknowledge... Simply knowing that a child will die if they wander onto the freeway, yet letting it happen anyway is still cruel. Foreknowing still adds up to pre-destination when we're talking about an all powerful god.” - bishop8000

Time is the key here. God exists outside of time. Time controls your actions. If you don't have time to act, you can't act. Your decisions are all time-based. God controls time. Getting the picture? God is the Past, Present, and Future. God is not a person like humans. God is not confined by human terms or anything else for that matter.

God has given us free will because he does not want anyone who does not really love him to spend eternity with him!! Only true believers are allowed in heaven!

He doesn't stop us from doing anything. He just knows everything. The only thing that stops us from doing wrong is the fear of the Lord and how much we love Him and do not want to sin against Him.

Here is a simplistic answer:
Suppose your child wants a bicycle. You know that he will, at some point, fall and hurt himself. But he REALLY wants it. So, you give him the bike. He falls and hurts himself. Why did you give him the bike? Because you LOVE him, that's why.
