why do you confess to a human,why don't you just confess to god and ask his forgiveness directly?

i thought all christians(with all its divisions,i don't know what they're called)go to confession.And yes I thought so because of the movies.I guess I was wrong sorry.

I confess to God, in my testimony that I share with others I am confessing to them my sins that I have done and where I was and how God helped me through it all, if it will help then at all knowing they aren't the only ones who sins or has sinned I will share. But other than that God is the only One I confess to.
Glad to see you were helped, the only way anyone can learn is by asking questions so don't say your sorry, you didn't do nothing worng..

The only way to confess our sins to god is by Repentance,Baptism and Receiving the Holy spirit(speaking in tongues)ln john 3:5,acts 2:4,acts 2:38 l corinthians14:2

Confession is good for the soul..as they say...
I personally confess to my God when i feel i have got something wrong..it's always a relief to get it out if you know what i mean..it refreshes the soul and lifts your burden. Confession makes us right with God again. I believe people of the Catholic faith confess to their Priest for the same reasons, it makes us right with God, and relieves us of any burden...it just makes you feel better..

Roman Catholics confess to a man (priest).
Christians confess their sins to God. Your confused as to what a Christian is!

Catholics confess to a priest in the privacy of a confessional! That's why we have priests. they have the authority to forgive sins, and we get a penance of prayers to say. But when we die and go before God, He is our final judge!

I do confess directly to my Savior. You are lumping all Christians together. Catholics (who are also Christians) confess to their priest, is that who you mean to direct this question to?

he gave his priests authority on Earth to forgive sins --Then he blew on them and said "Receive the Holy Spirit, whose sins you shall forgive, will be forgiven and whose sins you shall bind will remain with them. What you bind on Earth shall be bound in Heaven and what you loose on Earth will be loosed in Heaven" It is not men who forgives the sin it is the Holy Spirit acting through the men. Just as they raised the dead and healed people of which still happens today this is still present in his Church now.

WOW!!! You have it!!! Exactly!!! Only Catholics do that. I confess to God only. However if I feel I need my pastor to counsel me I will confess to him too.
